View Full Version : Identification Trouble
I have two bottles (both good) that I cannot identify.
1) Sazerac Rye - Straight - Rye Whiskey, 90 proof
It does not say how long it was aged, and I understand there are two versions.
2) William Larue Weller, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Barrel (125.3) proof. I have read of many Weller's with ages, eg. 2007, but my bottle says nothing about it.

The younger version is not age stated, the other is 18yo
The WLW have no actual date on them, you have to know what proof matches the year

the 125.3 is the 2008 right?

The Sazerac with no age statement is in the "old frontier" style bottle with big letters, right?
If so that is around 6 to 8 years old, maybe someone will correct me. 6yo seems right.
The 18 year old Sazerac is in a bottle just like that William Larue Weller that you have.

Yep, that's the '08.
Here are the yearly releases as identified by proof.
2005 121.95
2006 129.9
2007 117.9
2008 125.3
Is the above mentioned WLW 2008 (125.3) rare, or will it be readily available for some time?
I ask because there is another bottle available locally for $60. Should I bunker this while I have the chance, or will this be available for a while?
I would grab any and all bottles of WLarueW that you see.
They are once a year releases and are limited.
I have never seen any on a store shelf, I get mine through a friend in KY and eBay.

Squash,
Your bottle of Weller is 11 years 2 months at bottling.
If you can find other bottles......get them. Last years release is fantastic and comes close to the '06 release which, in my opinion, was one of the best bourbon's I've had.
