I got some Buffalo Trace White Dog in today.
I'll try it later and let you know what I think.
A couple of years ago I tried some at the BT distillery, I liked it.
I have posted a couple of times since then that it would be nice to get a bottle of White Dog.
Maybe someone reads these posts.

Catchy new thread title, eh?

I'm interested to know what you think. Not to suggest sacrelidge, but it might be fun to infuse some of that White Dog with something, no? Just for kicks? I've done that with vodka and rum with mixed results, but it could be the next BTEC: Hightower Pomegranate-Infused Whiskey.

Think about it. :D :D

Something similar to this? Albeit a custom version.

I have tasted white dog from HH, 4 roses, Woodford, WT, JD and MM (just from the finger in this case). I did like am all except MM, but that can maybe be because I did not taste it “real” but only from the finger. The JD was both before and after the Lincoln county process. Enormous difference! It was much better after and no problem to recognise the charcoal flavours from the final bottled whiskey. The WT dog was the best though. It had a very nice fruity flavour. Just a couple of days after I had tasted it at the distillery I was offered a pour of WT 12 gold folio in Bardstown from Dawn and Jon and I could easily recognise the fruity flavours I have had from the dog a couple of days earlier.

I have never had the opportunity to taste White Dog but would love to get some. Any on line sources?

I've had White Dog at the BT distillery and I liked it.
But this stuff they put out in the bottle is very bad.
Has a slight kerosene smell like White Lightning.
And a burning grainy and syrupy corn/peppermint taste that vanishes into something like medicine/rubbing alcohol with the hot pepper lingering in the background.

Here is what the bottle looks like (375ml 125 proof).

I decided to pass on a jug of that BT WDog this weekend. They wanted $16 for it. After tasting it at the end of the tour I knew I didnt want to drink anymore so I passed.

I did taste 4 Roses WD off of the beer still and the doubler. Both were very smooth, suprisingly so as we had had the BT WDog earlier in the day so we sipped with trepidation but were pleasently suprised with the results.

Oscar,

Where did you get it from? If it is OK that I ask.

Has letting it breath blown off any of that kerosene smell? I found Georgia Moon to be a little better after letting it breath/oxidize a bit. I actually emptied some of it into another gar and let it sit for a few weeks with quite a bit of head space in the jar. It seemed to help, but not much.

They were selling it at the Hamburg Liquor Barn in Lexington too, for $1.50 less than at the BT gift shop. Haven't cracked mine open yet. I'll have to give it a try tonight!

Pomegranate is the "trendy" flavor right now, and that White Dog is 125 proof,...hmmm,...you have got me to thinkin' but I better not say about what.
