Right now I really dig the Classic 12... but the 6yr CC ain't too bad either.

Are Canadian Mist, Wisers, Black Velvet or Lord Calvert worth a try?

Havent had any canadians in a while but i used to really dig the CC 12 Classic. Had one bottle of wisers and it was the plainest least flavorful whiskey ive ever tasted, really smooth though

Also tried Canadian mist and Black velvet reserve and both were disapointments, very thin and plain

yes, unfortunately most of it all seems to be bottled at 80 proof, with the CC100 being the exception, although I haven't tried it or the CC10yr yet.

That CC Classic 12 is definitely a Crown killer though.

I'm biased geographically, but I agree about the CC. If you can find the sherry cask, that's quite nice too.

I got a photo of Hiram Walker's grave in Detroit around here somewhere. I need to post that puppy...

Have availblity to the Sherry cask CC... I do want to try. I have heard good things as well.

Basically I am just looking for a good solid daily type pour.
Something good, neutral, my guest can mix with...
Something to protect my bourbon stash and give me a a good solid zero point benchmark to taste from/against.

I think CC12 might be that, CC6yr is a bit too sweet.
but I bet I might be able to find something in a handle (1.75 ml) cheaper than CC12.

it doesn't need to be 'neat' worthy, just 'rocks' worthy...

I hope that makes sense! heh.

Elisha Cuthbert. :)

On the booze side, I picked up a couple of 200 ml 1976 tax stamped CC Classic 12's some time ago, that have proven to be very good. Nice butterscotch and caramel. I have planned on giving them to my other favourite Canadian, but the "King of the Vattings" hasn't been hanging around here, lately. :(

Has anybody here, seen my old friend Gary? Can you tell me where he's gone?

Ya know, I just noticed. This thread should probably be moved to the foreign whiskey section. I would have said something earlier, but I had Elisha Cuthbert on the brain...and flashbacks of Pamela Anderson...

My Brother in law.

I seriously cant stand Canadian Whiskey.

He brought some 40 Creek around XMAS that my friends with no whiskey palettle liked.

I like Alanis Morissette and Forty Creek.

If both were within arms reach, Alanis would win by a few percentage points.

Canada is foreign but most definitely American...
Lest we not forget where we live.
We don't own the continent, yet.

Shannon Tweed? Oh, whiskies! :slappin: I have three that I like. In no particular order, CC, Forty Creek and Crown Royal. Joe
