All are available in my area, in the $15-20 range. Excuse me if I have overlooked, but I don't see much discussion of these here. Which is the one to grab, if you are grabbing only one? Comments appreciated, even if you have only had one or two. Thanks!

How much is Wild Turkey 101 in your area?

I've tasted the top two in your list and I can't recommend either. I've never tasted or encountered Old Williamsburg, so I can't comment there.

Turkey 101 is right in that same range, IIRC.

Same as Scott, never heard of Old Williamsburg.
Turkeys and Eagles drop the best 101's.

I would definitely go with the Wild Turkey 101 and/or the Old Charter 101. I've never had the OW and I found the OE a bit harsh tasting, as did a few of my friends. Even with a touch of water (I usually drink my bourbon neat) the OE didn't open up enough sweetness for me to want another bottle. Just my thoughts--others may disagree.

I echo the sentiment to stay away from all of these (particularly the Charter 101) and go with the WT101.

Well, it looks like my instinct to usually favor the smaller and lesser-known over the the more major players was off-base here. I will still probably give one of these a try sometime but I will get some Turkey first. Thanks!

I agree with everybody above. Charter 101 is almost undrinkable and WT101 is a great bourbon.

It would seem that I am the only fan of Carter 101. It is a rough bourbon with a lot of flavor but I guess that is how I like them. I have never had the OE 101 but have had the Virgin 101 and I am under the understanding that these are the same juice from HH in different labels. The Virgin 101 is great and cheap. I think I paid 11.50 for 750ml. Old Williamsburg thought I have never had it I have heard that it is a younger HH product. So maybe the same as the OE just younger.
All this said I would still rather buy a bottle of WT101.

I would generally agree with everybody else here. WT 101 is probably the best 101 choice, but I do like the Old Ezra 101 too. It is a great mixer.

This is a fun excercise though!

I'm totally unfamiliar with the Old Williamsburg, so I can't comment there. For me, hands down, I'd go with the Old Ezra. Some years back, I might have given my rec to the WT. But, it ain't what it used to be....to me, anyway. It seems more thin, young, harsh, and not as rich, these days. I really, really, like the Old Ezra.

I'm drinking some Old Ezra 7yr old 101 right now and finding it quite enjoyable! Not sure why all the bad talk seems like good stuff to me for $16 a bottle here it's cheaper than WT 101 in my neck of the woods.

Tony why would you do a brother like that ? You know how I feel about my Turkey:cool: Really I never had the old Erza 7 yr old 101 if Tony says it's good he knows more than me. I had the Erza 12 year old SB it was OK.

Of the three choices given, I'd vote for Old Ezra 101. Pretty good stuff, especially for the money.

Over the weekend, I got my hands on the WT and Old Ezra. To my inexperienced palate, the WT is much better. Just a lot more going on, much smoother and more flavorful.

The OE is decent but the finish is nasal cavity-burning hot! Whoo, not sure I like that. Almost like a hit of wasabi in every sip :slappin:

I messed around and tried a mix of the two. I didn't measure out anything but I'd say it was about 20-25% WT and 75-80% OE. Doing this smoothed out the burn and made for a very enjoyable drink. Not as good as WT standalone and with the two being pretty close in price, I am not sure that this is anything worthwhile to do on a regular basis. Still kinda fun to experiment on a slow weekend.

Thanks, guys!

I have a bottle of Old Williamsburg 101. It is definitely bulk bourbon as it is bottled by a non producer out of Princeton, MN. My bottle doesn't list an age so it is probably a 4yr. old. I myself would recommend Wild Turkey. I also have bottles of OC 101 and OE 101. The OC is more for mixing and the OE has a bad after taste. OW is basically a mixing bourbon too!
