Well while looking a the Michigan liquor list this morning it looks like Wild Turkey has a new bottle coming... Not sure when it will hit the stores but it's going to run us about $119.00 a bottle. Looked for an image but could not find anything yet.
Anyone know anything about this?

Tony, there is a thread on that 'other' site with bourbon in the URL but it does not have any information, one tasting report though.
$120! Damn, I thought that was going to be $100 and isn't it like 30k produced?
WTAS was 24K?

Hopefully when demand lessens for the product, the price will come down similar to "American Spirit". It is getting really tough to justify the price increases in the specialty bottling.
I know taxes are part of the equation and that drives me crazy albeit small part when compared to the specialty bottling. Regardless, these bottles are big time duckets and I am becoming less interested in them due to the price jump.

The article in the link you provided says 14,000 for the US @ $100. It might show some places for $89.99. I liked this part, "white oak barrels with the heaviest (and most expensive) level of char". How much does it cost to char a barrel a few seconds longer? I guess I finally need to get around to opening my WTAS I've had for awhile to see if this one is worthy. I usually stick to Rare Breed for my WT kick, but even it has gotten north of $40.

It is 101 proof.
Early speculation was that this was going to hit in December for the holidays so this is a welcome suprise.

A little spendy for me, unless it's amazing. $120 is two bottles of stagg, or a bottle of stagg and wlw. Hard to pass them for this... Hell that's a bottle of AS and dusty KS if you want to stick in the turkey family.

Since the Tradition is in the same vein as American Spirit and Tribute.....here's a question for those that enjoy Tribute (less than 5,000 bottles for the US and a fantastic whiskey). Would you hesitate to buy the Tribute at the same price as the Tradition?

I would.
I'm torn though.
On one hand that would be way more than I've ever dropped on a bottle of whiskey.
I am quite attracted to the bottle, probably mostly due to the fact that I've lusted after the WT17yo for so long.

No hestitation at all to buy Tribute at Tradition price -or- Tradition at Tribute price.
It's my only hobby, if you want to call it that.
I have already e-mailed my favorite liquor store the MI LCC info about the WT Tradition 14yo and now I wait for it's arrival.

I'd love to try this whiskey, but the price is ridiculous. Actually, I think WT should have a regular bottling at 10 years old. WT is being bottled today so to keep it around for a mere 14 years is no accomplishment. Compared to the last SW juice, which will never be produced again, the last barrels on earth are being barreled right now and sold for $80ish.
For WT to ask for 50% more for their juice, is absurd. This stuff will languish on shelves and five years hence, will be available at half price. Which is where is should have been all along.
It reminds me of the super-duper special Crown Royal. Started at $200 but the stores that still have it are now asking $100. You could probably buy it for $75.
I love WT101 and would love to try this ninja-juice, but the price is insulting.

I would pay 90 for it...the same neighborhood that American Spirit was in Ohio before the clearance. The bottle of Tribute that I acquired at KBF runs circles around the WTAS that I have in the cabinet.

The point I was trying to make was that Tribute was so good, we'd pay almost any price to get it now. WT American Spirit was unique, but not as good. Who knows where Tradition will end up in the quality spectrum......but if it is as good as Tribute ( I doubt it ), we'll be happy to pay the piper.

Here is my problem with this turkey, the best WT juice is the old 8 year and you can find them from $35-100 a handle...
I have had or have every Turkey (less this new one) and the 8 year is still better...
What say you Turkey brethren Oscar?
... And yeah, I will get one a year from now on sale for $70-85...

Yeah I know what you meant and yes when something like this comes out we are all over it but of course it does remain to be seen as far as the taste goes.
Also agree abut the American Spirit, I was kinda let down after the price and packaging got my hopes up.
As we all know you can't judge a book by it's cover.
But I am hoping it's as good as the 14yo Master Distillers Select, which btw I have never tasted but those who have say it is the best Turkey.

I have already got a couple on order and after I taste it I will then determine if it is worthy of shameful hoarding, um,... I mean bunkering.
The best Turkey I have tasted is the Kentucky Legend Single Barrel which was also a barrel proof at just under 112.
Incredible rich and super Turkey depthness.

If price really is $125 or up, I'm not sure what WT was thinking. WTAS at $77 did not fly on the shelf around here and I could buy 50 bottles of it tommorow. So, come close to double the price for about the same product with a new name??? Maybe, they want us to think WTAS is now a bargain to clear them of the shelf.

I agree the package is attractive, but I do not like where this trend is heading.
these distilleries are going going to keep coming out with these "special" bottlings and the price will keep going up.
they wont be happy until we are paying the same prices for bourbon as for scotch.

I have several too and it is great stuff. Fortunately it is relatively easy o find here on E-bay and auctions even from the 70-is sometimes. As a personal tradition this is the whiskey I carry in my pocket bottle when I visit the please and love music festival held in my small town every late June. If its allowed to take in alcohol into the festival area? Of cause not!

Wow! Love the look of this. with 30,000 I would say the rest will come here and to Japan, which is good news for us. Although WTAS was about $120 here and if you can still find it now it can be had for $195.
My Turkey shelf is already full, damn it! I might need some more space!
The box looks similar to a Dom Perignon box, pretty cool!
Hopefully we will see them before Xmas!

Also, I don't like the damn name! Maybe I am looking at this wrong, but they already released something called Tradition and it wasn't anything like this, so couldn't they have chosen a new unique name?
The packaging is beautiful, I'll probably get one or two but at that price can't afford to bunker it like I did WTAS.

I tried it and liked it VERY much. It didn't immediately knock me over on the first sip, but when I sampled it side-by-side with rare breed and several premium bourbons, I fully appreciated tradition's more complex range of flavors and aftertaste. Is it worth the price? I liked it very much and may get another bottle someday, but I'll be slow to get the second bottle. Many of us don't have access to a wide range of bottles on someone else's shelf to sample for free, so we have to "pay-to-play" if we want to sample new material. What's it worth to sample something new to the market? If the price isn't a big problem to you and you want to try something new, I recommend trying it.

That makes sense. A&L, despite their claims otherwise likes to charge 3-5% above state minimum for upper shelf products.

I still haven't seen the Tradition, and if it's really about $120 I probably won't buy it anyway. The threshold for what I will spend has gone up, but not that much.

It arrived at my new Bar today from Pernod, around 8500yen a bottle.
At todays rate $94. I wonder if the wooden box and the bottom piece was
not attached would it be $80 ??
I like it !!
At first the alcohol smell is too strong, but after a few minutes on the counter
it gives a strong oaky good bourbon aroma, and the taste is full bodied thick
heavy (what did I want to say) its great!
Its same as other WT at 101proof but you get a Lot more out of this Bottle.

I say amen to that Christian and I will go even feather. If it was up for me to decide everything would be bottled in pet bottles with plastic screw caps. That would not only make the bottles cheaper but also easier to ship, easier to pack into the suitcase, eliminate cork miss flavours and make the risk of a broken bottle if you drop it minimal.

Cam,
Here in Indy, it looks like the new 14 is priced at $100, and the AS was $80
I just paid $105.99 out the door here in PA. I found it a bit cheaper in Maryland but the gas cost to drive down and back would have made it more expensive.

Koji was kind enough to let me have a taste of the new WT Tradition last week at his new bar in Shibuya, Tokyo.
I found it tasty and complex -- maybe some raisin on the nose, and leather in the taste and finish. The alcohol kick is more subtle than in younger WT 101 expressions.
Not quite the equal of the fabled 17yo, IMHO, but quite delicious. Whether it competes with the other options at around $100 (or multiple sub-$100 bottles!) is a matter of taste.

I think they may have "jumped the shark" with the packaging. WTAS, for example, was still very classy looking yet simpler and undoubtedly less expensive to produce.
Or, look at FR Mariage or PVW15... whiskies of comparable (or better quality) with elegant but understated bottles.
I'd rather my $ went for the juice.

Yeah me too, now that I have seen many pictures of this I am really turned off by the excessive as all hell packaging. That has to be at least a few dollars of the cost. And I know I am not alone when I say I hate paying for packaging, especially when I want to bunker a few which would likely result in just tossing the box anyway!

A 65 dollar 4R Mariage or a 119 dollar 14yo Turkey?
I love both Jim and Jimmy but I'm going with the 4R's.
So, it runs 99.99 at Binnys. I passed, but have another chance. Is it worth it? I know it's a question without an answer... but thought I'd toss it out there. Or should I go for a second Jeffersons Reserve 17 at 79.99 instead?
Or maybe 5 bottles of Rittenhouse Rye...

No it is not a question without an answer, it is a $20.00 question.
For 20 bucks you can have two different types of excellent bourbon.
JRPS 17yo is not the best S-W bourbon and the WT 14yo is not the best Turkey, but both are very very good.
One bottle of RR @ 20 bucks is way way over priced.

the packaging is incredible and who would not like a self supporting back bar peice all in one package. As far as the product inside it is hand selected barrels by Jimmy and Eddie Russell. They pick the best in the rack house for this brand as well as keeping it at 101 proof. Is it the best turkey out there that is debated but everyone else is doing these high end bottlings why not one of the best distillers alive today...

-It consists of Barrells hand selected by Master distiller Eddie Russell and Retired Master Distiller Jimmy Russell.
-The bottle and package is self supporting. it comes in a box that when it is opened you can display the bottle like those fancy bottle enhancers you see on back bars at your favorite watering hole.
-Finally everyone else is entering into the high end bourbon market so why not another entry in the line of Wild Turkey. At least the name itself speaks for quality and tradition....
Sorry if i didnt come across the right way in explaining my thoughts...

While in Tennessee, I toured a few stores looking for finds. I ran into a very knowledgeable and pleasent WT rep who helped me find another WT Tradition bottle. In her district it's selling out; she only has four bottles left for distribution to stores in her coverage area.

Finally showed up in Texas at the usual locations. $88 plus tax. I'll open mine soon. Will do a Tribute/American Spirit/Tradition/Master Distiller Selection taste off. My bet is on Tribute as I love the chocolate covered cherries I pick up with that one.

I am glad to hear it is appearing at some places for a much more reasonable price! Although Texas is probably one of (if not) the least expensive state for bourbon purchases from what I've heard and read... $88 would at least get me to buy a couple.

I haven't seen one yet.

You must have been in the eastern sector. Over here in the west as well as parts of middle TN, I have seen it aplenty. Now, it is $99 and up....which probably explains why.

Wonder why it is more plentiful over here in the western woods. Perhaps it was evenly distributed but has seen stronger sales in the east....that is probably more logical. My mom is an east TN native. Yeah, you're over and up in terms of TN geography.....always heard that Bristol is closer to Canada than to Memphis....you ever heard that?

Went to Binny's on Saturday and took advantage of their 15% off sale. I managed to get the $100 WT Tradition for $85 and still had enough money to buy a bottle of Laphroaig Cask Strength. I left the store happy!

Hey Randy,
you do a side by side on this Turkey parade yet? Thinking of getting one but not sure which to snag.

Still waiting for this to make it's way Down Under, although I was told it will not be here until Campari take over ship in June, not sure how true that is though.
Scott
I still haven't seen any of this in Georgia either.
I've seen this in a few places, but man, I just can't pull the trigger.

It's definately made its way Downunder. $100 AU (approx $108 US) a bottle. I got two last weekend and am yet to open one. I'm a sucker for presentation (and trinkets), so if the bourbon is half as good as the packaging, I'll be bunkering a few more bottles of this.

It's good stuff TomH brought a bottle to Houston for the table (very generous Tom). I had a couple pours. Mozilla arranged for me to buy a bottle from the store he works at and delivered it to me in Houston I have yet to open it. I may save it for my birthday.

It's about half as good....
gots me 2 bottle's the other day and cracked one last night to celebrate my brothers 30th ( thursday australia time ) well it's smoother than my usual celabratory booker noe's with a more fruitier but still warm after taste, i could also pick up a nice sweetness to the nose, a rather nice toffee like smell, at a $100 a bottle down under i'm more than happy with the tatse and it's speciality value added to the birthday's atmoshpere

Seeing this around the area for $89. I was not sure about it at first but it has really grown on me. If it gets down to the $69 level it may be time to bunker up a few.....
