I know we all favorite songs to listen to while drinking bourbon, but I'm looking artists and songs that have a particular connection bourbon...could you all help me with some?
For example, Kid Rock with Red Stag...Willie Nelson with Old Whiskey River. But perhaps not so commercial as official endorsements, just musicians that sing about bourbon or have some special connection to bourbon. George Thorogood, of course. If you would please share somne those you know of, I'd be grateful as I'm working on a little something I promise to share here, my friend! Many thanks!
Cheers,
Tom Fischer

Even though it's not a bourbon, I know that Crown Royal has a connection with jazz. Jazz is what I prefer if I'm listening to music while having a pour or two of bourbon. Joe
Bourbon Man by Tom T. Hall
Great line from Texas Country artist Cory Morrow's song "Drinkin Alone"-
"I woke up, with some Wild Turkey starin' at me. I poured a couple fingers into my cup of coffee."

Big fan of Cory Morrow, as well as most Texas Country. Great song as well.

A lot of songs by Hank Williams Jr., Hank and Booker Noe were good friends. Booker was even in one of Hank's videos. Have you ever noticed that every bourbon mentioned in a Hank Jr. song is a JB product ie. JB, OGD, etc.. A good song for example would be "Whiskey bent and hell bound"
Another good song would be "Whiskey girl" by Toby Kieth
Hardcore honkytonk all the way.
Right now I have Merle Haggard spinning on my turn table....
JasonE
David Bromberg Live, The Blues, The Blues Man.
Just noticed that the Dave Matthews Band's new album is .... Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King

My favorite is from jazz trumpet player Chris Botti. A great version of a song made famous by Frank Sinatra. One For My Baby (And One More for The Road). I was lucky enough to see him in concert with Diana Krall a couple of years ago in Milwaukee. One For My Baby was the song he closed with. It was fantastic! Here's a youtube link of him playing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv0k_5HmU0E On the CD I have he does a much slower version. Below are the lyrics too. Joe
It's quarter to three,
There's no one in the place 'cept you and me
So set 'em' up Joe
I got a little story you wanna know
We're drinking my friend, to the end
Of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
I've got the routine
So drop another nickel in the machine
I'm feeling kind of bad
Wish you make the music easy and sad
I could tell you a lot, but you've
Got to be true to your code
So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
You'd never know it
But buddy I'm a kind of poet
And I've got a lot of things I'd like to say
But when i'm gloomy, you simply got to listen to me
Untill it's talked away
Well, that's how it goes
And Joe I know you're gettin' anxious to close
So thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind
My bending your ear
This torch that I found
It's gotta be drowned
Or it soon might explode
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road
That long, long road!!

Great tune! I actually heard/saw Sinatra do it sometime in the 1980's. His voice didn't have its past range, but his phrasing is/was the best I've ever heard.

I got to see him in the late 70's. Free! I was in the Army, and the post rec center got a bunch of tickets. I thought why not. Might be okay. All I can say is wow! Pretty much the best concert I've ever been to. Joe
Howdy,
JBB mixed with Diet Coke are just the ticket when I'm singing "She done me wrong" songs on my Martin D-28. Usually I'll do this when the wife has gone shopping. Our Airedale Terrier will sit at my feet as I croon and she'll go right to sleep!

late contribution:
I always put the album "A Ass Pocket of Whiskey" on at some point during my listening/sipping sessions. Collaboration between RL Burnside and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. You can find it at Fat Possum Record's website. It's on vinyl too!
Albert Collins - I Ain't Drunk....I'm Just Drinking
Although not specifically Bourbon, its still great.
Van Halen - "Take Your Whiskey Home" Woman and Children First - album
"I think you're headed for a whole lot of trouble, if you take your whiskey home."
I added the entire lyrics of the song in the lyrics thread.
