View Full Version : Red Stag by Jim Beam?
Ok I know it's been talking about, but Red Stag is in stores now. I just saw commercials for it a couple days ago, and I was at the liquor store (picking up my ol' faithful, old ezra) and I saw it. I saw it said "infused with cherry flavors" or something to that effect. I was hesitant about trying it, and instead of reading the website for taste profiles, i thought I'd consult you all first. Anyone try this stuff? I'm a man with a taste for true, natural bourbon with a nice burn if possible. How "cherry infused" is this stuff? Any opinions?

I'm usually not quite this straightforward when it comes to advice on a particular bourbon/whiskey, but I can that I would pass on the Red Stagg. Way too much cherry flavor. Way too sweet. Your money would be better spent on something else. Joe
listen to Joe... the empty bottle I smelled at his house today was awful. It smelled like bad rotten cherry extract. Not even in candy type way.... no bourbon nose at all... not anything I ever want to drink based on that

Well, if we're gonna give this thread some life...
I think it delivers on its promise. It's JBW infused with cherry concentrate. That's what it tastes like. It's good mixed with coke zero, ok on the rocks.
It tastes like expired cherry Nyquil. I have an almost full fifth that I am trying to find a use for, maybe draino?
I posted a review here (http://www.cigarpass.com/forums/topic/58316-red-stag-by-jim-beam/) back in June.
In a nutshell: Horrid crap that you should avoid.

I think it's ok. buy a bottle and decide for yourself.
If you drink cocktails, such as manhattans, or if you like sweet, fruity liqueurs, then you may like it. If you're basically a straight whiskey drinker, you won't. It isn't a liqueur, but that's what it tastes like. Personally, I like it, but I love cherry life savers.

I am not going to combine this with the other thread, or well maybe I will, at the least I am going to move this to the non-whiskey alcohol subforum.
