It seem we get lots of inquiries regarding what's available at various Duty Free shops in airports and cruise destinations. Soooo, in that vein, here's a DFW update.

I last flew thru here two years ago and they had squat. Nothing I couldn't buy in any liquor store in Texas. Today, flying from Dallas to Calgary, was much better.

There were quite a few interesting looking scotches too and good prices. This was Duty Free in terminal D.

For the last 3 months at many duty free shops there have been exceptionally good prices on JW Gold and Chivas Royale Salute for blended scotch fans (I picked up 2 bottles of each back (Philly and Cancun) in July and still saw the prices in early October (JFK).

I've been wondering - can you visit a duty free shop without buying a ticket?

I know the shops at DFW terminal D are inside the secure zone, so I suspect the answer is 'no'.

Unless you meet some exception for entering the secured zone, you do need a ticket. Even if you're in the secure zone, you must show a ticket for foreign travel to purchase anything at duty free.

I've been in the duty free at LAX without being an international traveler.

Edited Note: I should point out that I could not purchase without an international ticket and they deliver the alcohol to the point of entry on the plane.

I found a collector with lots of duty free bottles willing to do trades for stuff he doesn't have. PM if your interested, and I'll put you in touch. Cheers.
