I found nine bottles of EWM in a store in Charleston, WV, today. Several of the boxes were in bad shape from the leak. One bottle was not in the box. But, I found one that had a good box, intact seal, and no apparent leak. (I held it upside down and nothing came out.)

Link to EWM post in locked thread (http://www.straightbourbon.com/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=General&Number=12480&F orum=All_Forums&Words=millennium&Match=Entire%20Ph rase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=1year&Main=8375&Sea rch=true#Post12480)

So what is this sucker worth?

P.S. I never imagined that WV would be so stocked. I haven't seen this many goods except in KY. Today I picked up the EWM, Elmer T. Lee SB, Sazarec Rye, and the Fox.

I left on the shelf the GTS, ER 17, and Weller old stuff in that same collection.

CL:

Since the EWSB Millennium globes are still on the shelves in a number of States, they are now worth exactly what you paid for them. In years to come, though, they should become collectors' items. So, although worth no more than about $40 now, they could be worth double that in about ten years or so. Most of that inflation will probably come from the decanter collecting crowd, which could care less about the whiskey inside. In fact, to them, the bourbon is nothing but a nuisance, threatening to damage the precious pottery!!

But, as another who has put away a few of these 3-D geography lessons, I think they make a great addition to the bunker, and one which I tap into regularly, as well. Now just where is Nova Scotia, anyway? Oh, there it is . . .

Oh, well. I thought that no more were to be found. No big deal. Now I have a conversation piece. http://www.straightbourbon.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif

I haven't decided whether to open it or not. I am not a collector for collecting's sake, but I tend not to open unusual or limited bottles. (Ok, I only have one other somewhat limited bottle - BT bottle signed by ETL.) I think it adds more to the appeal to have the bottle unopened.

I searched SB.com and did not see any tasting notes on EWM. Does anyone have any impressions to offer? How about you, Barrel_Proof?

Fair request, CL. Will break out the Millennium geography lesson and an EWSB from just before and just after this bottling (the '89 and '90) and give the 'ol taste buds and brain a chance to work together to articulate the differences. Darn if there aren't responsibilities that come with enjoying the Forum!
