FRANKFORT, Ky. Visitors to Kentucky will be able to follow a series of brown highway signs that lead to bourbon distilleries along the state's Bourbon Trail.

First lady Jane Beshear unveiled the first sign Tuesday at the Jim Beam Brands distillery in Frankfort.

Seventeen new brown highway signs will direct visitors to the distilleries of Maker's Mark, Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey and Four Roses in central Kentucky.

Mrs. Beshear said the bourbon industry has helped define Kentucky's heritage for more than 200 years.

She said the distilling industry is responsible for nearly 10,000 jobs with an annual payroll of $442 million and annual tax revenue of $125 million. She said Kentucky's distilled exports reach more than 125 countries and amount to more than $1 billion a year.
