Haven't seen a thread on here that isnt 5+ years old. Anything change on this bourbon?

I have a 15yr and 20yr family reserve waiting for me and he asked if I wanted a 10yr 107 proof also for $40. It worth it? I am already spending near $200 for those first two and honestly don't want to spend an other $50 after taxes. What does it compare too the best?

I figured since its hard to find also, might as well have it in my collection. Any info to help make my decision please let me know. Thanks!

It's a great bourbon, and very much worth the price. I don't know what else it would compare to, for my money it's the best wheater at that age and price range, and maybe even a few above its price range.* To quote an old Irish poet, it's magically delicious.

*maybe Weller 12 is as good, depends on the day.

Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 107 is usually a great bottle of Bourbon.Lots of Carmel ,Rich and Thick with a long Finish.

The last bottle I had tasting a little bit like cough syrup .
The bottles No was B9016.The glass bottle it was in was made in 09.

Yes, very much so and if you want to play the "bang for your buck" thing, that ORVW for $40 beats the hell out of the Pappy 15 & 20 yo's.

I'd skip the 20yo and get another 15 and a couple 10's.

Josh nailed it exactly (well, not really "exactly" --- but I needed to pad my response)

I was just in a store the other day and bypassed a row of ORVW 10/107 for $29 each. I have 3 or 4 in the bunker so didn't feel compelled to purchase.

For $29? God where do some of yall get this luck. Paying $50 in Atlanta at Green's, their most impressive package store.

It ranges in price from 29 to 38 'round here depending on where you go. And I will echo what everyone else says about it. It's like Weller 12 in as much as it is one of those bourbons that I would pay more for...but I'm glad I don't have to.

It's $40 (well $39.95 +tax) in MI, but it's also worth it.

I absolutely adore the stuff. 40 bucks is a fair price. Its worth it.

And just as there of those of you who can purchase it at ANY price, there are those of us who have never seen a bottle on the shelf, ever, in six different states. So yeah, if I was lookin' for some I'd pay 40-45 bucks.... especially at what people want for Pappy 15 around here.

Are you talking about ORVW 10/107?
MI state minimun is $39.95, just let me know.

Like many others have posted, it's an excellent bourbon and well worth the price. I think the last couple I purchased were around the $35 area, and I'd definitely pay $40 for a bottle if that were the going price.

ORVW 10/107 is a wonderful bourbon. I like it just a little better than Weller 12 and just a little less than Pappy 15.

ORWV 10/107 is hard to find and even harder to find it at the state minimum price.

I've never had a problem getting it.
I see it fairly often.

I guess it's not as popular with the Yankee Rednecks of Jackson Co., MI as it is around here.

It used to be cheaper, but we would certainly pay $40 for it (frame of reference: in VA, BTAC products are approaching $70 and ORVW is not on the state "formulary"). The ORVW 10yr 107 is about as close to bourbon perfection as we've tasted. In our opinion, better than the discontinued ORVW 15yo or any of the Pappy expressions. That said, it has been 3-4 years since we had an opportunity to buy a bottle, so things could have changed.

Never seen it in Jack-Town, I know several places in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor that have on the shelf right now.

Now lay off my poor brothers here in Ted Nugent country, cuz when they get a belly full of peppermint schnapps they'll shoot at anything.

It's readily available in AA. I picked up a bottle today to make sure. Need some?

Runs about 35 here in KC. We had an abundant supply. A freind and I grabbed up most of them. In the next week or so, the new batch will be hitting the shelves. Hopefully my rye will be coming too.

Appears sporadically around No KY then usually disappears rapidly. (The upside to living in KY is access to virtually all bourbons; the downside is that there are a lot of discriminating bourbon drinkers who quickly clean out the good stuff.)

Maybe I need to get out more or to different stores.

Added: I have a bunkered supply so I'm not looking too hard.

The only bottle I've ever bought of this was in 2008. I recollect paying about $35. It was the only store in Oregon where I ever saw it, and they haven't had any for a least a year now.

The number on the front label is A2144. 08 on the bottom of the bottle.

I find it to be too woody and dry. This is strange, because I've always liked other expressions of VW. Wondering if it was an off batch.

Rather than dump it, I vat it with other wheaters. That's where about half my bottle of MM 46 went. Now it's back to using OWA.

Got to say I haven't seen this for under $49 in Florida for many years....and SoFla is somewhat known for cheaper booze prices.

Flew to NC this morning and carried the bottle with me to share with colleagues here (the ABC system in NC is pretty limited). Of course I forgot I could not bring this carry-on so security sent me back to check my bag. A $40 bottle quickly became $65 dollars...

Please don't remind me.. :smiley_acbt: . On the flip side... I trust that you'll enjoy your trip to our great state.

I lived in Durham for almost 14 years. Met my wife here and 2 of my kids were born here. I only get back every couple years or so, but there are lots of memories. However, I usually carry a bottle of decent bourbon with me because I also remember the ABC system.

Well I ended up picking up the 10yr 107 ORVW, along with the 15yr and the 20yr for $238 w/tax in Atlanta. Will be trying them all tonight. I appreciate the help, I figured why not as I have not seen many bottles of each around here.

It's awesome for the price. It was sub $30 last year, now it's $30.99 where I go. Here it doesn't go quite as quick as the other VW, but still doesn't last long.

It was $45.99 for the 10yr, $69.99 for the 15yr and $99.99 for the 20yr. I don't do this often so wanted to make sure I locked down at least a bottle of each to have on my shelf. Can't wait for tonight.
