I'm new at this, so hope it works! As they are tearing up the roads around my house, the telephone and electric are on and off. Hope I can get this out before anything else happens. I am trying to locate the value of a bottle (1 pint) of "Old Ripy", Bottled in Bond, Bourbon Whiskey. It is sealed with the Spring 1916 and Spring 1927 stamps. It also has the California tax stamp (10 cents). It was "12 Summers Old" 100 proof when bottled. There is some evaporation, but not much. Bottled at First District Warehouse by South End Warehouse Co., of San Francisco, CA. It states on the label "For Medicinal Purposes Only" Sale or use for other purposes will cause heavy penalties to be inflicted. It was made before Sept.30,1917 as per the label. Could it be of value? The Distiller was T.B. Ripy, Distillery No. 112, District of Kentucky. Thanks - Dave (Doc). I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks Again!

There has been more than a few of these 'old bourbons' found and listed here. Wonder what they would taste like and since they are for prohibtion "medical use" any harm in drinking them? http://www.straightbourbon.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/confused.gif

Doc whatever you do don't drink that stuff until you send it to me for proper evaluation! http://www.straightbourbon.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/laugh.gif Old Ripy is a brand from the very famous Ripy Brothers family of distillers. I do believe what you have in your possesion is the very same recipe that would later become world famous as the Wild Turkey brand bourbons. Are you looking to liquidate your holdings? - Linn

Not so fast Linn!
Doc, I too could properly evaluate that Bourbon for you. I must warn you that my methods would preclude any residual being returned , The testing would require the entire amount! http://www.straightbourbon.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/grin.gif

Hey Thanks for the info. I've managed to endulge in a little Wild Turkey, of course I was much younger then and thrived on the 100 proof. I think I'll put it on E-Bay and see if it has any monetary value. If not, it's drink or donate, not sure which way I'll go. - Doc
