Wish me joy. I went to a section of town even I felt uncomfortable in and found what I believe is my first genuine dusty. ND OGD, DSP KY-14, made in Frankfort. Am I wrong? (Please tell me I'm not wrong...) to my eyes it looks like the bottle date is 91. All of the other OGD was made in Clermont at a different DSP and had the regular size cap and bottle dates in the last year.

I brought it covetously up to the register and the nice Indian lady had difficulty reading the price because of the grime. "Oh sir, it is very dusty..." she said and got a feather duster and cleaned it off. I said "Yeah...I know..." with a huge grin that obviously confused her.

No, it's a liter! Don't know when I'll open it - when I have 2 or 3 others, probably.

I had one of those once!
To be honest, I don't remember what its final disposition was, but I certainly don't remember regretting it! -- and, I surely remember some spectacular older/ND OGD BIBs! It's likely to be an epiphiniacal (if that's a word) whiskey.
(You'll NEVER have two or three other, okay? Pleeeeaaaase, promise me it won't be a shelf queen -- I just HATE IT when that happens! 'Whiskey's for drinkin'', as someone here once said/wrote...)

Well done, Grasshopper. May this be but the first step in a long and wonderful journey.

What is the difference between this and the 20+ bottles of the OGD100 BIB at a local liquor store I frequent?

I have never had this type and wondering as I saw it. They had 750ml up to 1.75's. Thanks for the help on what to read on the bottle to check the differences.

Haha - you make an excellent point. I had thought of saving it for when I become a grandfather the first time (probably about 10 years from now) but I doubt it'll last that long.

Search for "ND OGD" and read about DSP numbers. The giveaway, when you look across the room at the bourbon section of the store, is the wide mouth neck and uber-large cap.

ND OGD is good juice. I have a OGD BIB open from '72/'81 that's top shelf in flavor and finish. No reason to wait as you will find more dusty's as you make hunting excursions. Open it, drink it, enjoy it.

Great find! I have a bottle of that juice in 86 proof and I think it's great. Hunt the area you found that bottle intensely and you'll probably turn up more goodies.

Will do. I'm waiting on my concealed carry permit to come in the mail now - a handy thing for dusty hunting.

Hey, I've never got into such an altercation with another dusty hunter, over a dusty on the shelf, that I felt the need to cap them...;)

Wow. I never find dusties. Of course here in PA, you'll never find any, but on my trips to Maryland I never find any either! I'd LOVE to find some old OGD bottles!

NICE! I have only had the 86p from 1990. One of my favorites. I would love to find a BIB or a 114. That's going to be one good pour.

Nice find Ryan the only ND OGD's I have are all 86 proof good find on a BIB. Open that puppy up and have a pour your going to love it! IMO Paul the ND OGD 86 from 1989 that I have open is better then the OGD BIB from the same year. The 86 has better mouth feel and is just filled with creamy butterscotch. The BIB has a much higher rye taste and is a bit hot for a 100 proofer IMO. I'm extremely happy when I find ND OGD 86's as I haven't had one yet that I didn't think was a fantastic bourbon! I used to pass them up when I saw them...now they find a home in either mine or my buddies bunker.

Thanks - that's good to know. I would have tended to gravitate toward the 100.

The OGD BIB that I currently have open was hot when first opened but it settled down after being opened and now the heat plays a minor roll. It's one of my current fav pours.

You know, I wondered about this...if letting it breathe wouldn't cool things down a notch, alcohol being so volatile. Thanks.
