I stopped buy Binny's today and grabbed a number of different items for Christmas with only one bottle being bourbon...I grabbed a bottle of Binny's BT bottlin from 2010. IMO it's the best BT bottling I've had!

Found a Rittenhouse Rye 100 BiB, as well as a stash of OWA with the old paper labels, which I'll bunker over the next month or so.

Many dusties.

The hunt goes on...

In the past I've found the Four Roses style to a bit light for me but there was only one bottle of Single Barrel left on the shelf and, being 100 proof, decided it was worth the price.

BT signed by Mr. Wheatley. He told me not to let it sit unopened because they make plenty. I'm going to follow his advice and open it on Christmas :)

My favorite local store usually gets a few bottles of each year's BTAC. I hadn't seen any Stagg this year, and I've never tried it before, so I called last week to ask about it. They said they would call the distributer, and voila! They took delivery of 2 3-packs today. By the time I got there this afternoon, 2 bottles were left. I'm sampling mine now and am very happy with my purchase - especially since most of the cost was paid by the Christmas gift my company gave me.

Flint, what store had the OSA old label bottles? I am down here in Huntsville, willing to make the short drive. Also looking for some PVW15's. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I picked up a 375ml of Bulleit today to see how it is.
From what I understand Bulleit no longer buys it's whiskey from 4R's.
Who ever cooks it for them I'd say it's OK, very spicey so I don't know if I got an old one or not.
But the spice does seem to warm up a cold 2nd day of Winter.

I am in love with the PHC 10yr right now.. So good. It's a very round, deep profile that goes great on a cold winter night. Very happy sipping on it!

As far as the Pappy 15 goes, i skipped on it this year as I have 4 bunkered up, and its selling @ around $70 in these parts so I decided to move on for now. Though I did find some online for 44.99! Of course sold out, but still good to see it @ that price.

David Nicholson 1843 BiB. Allegedly DSP-KY-16, but as several of the threads on here lead me to believe, this is mislabeled. The bottle looks pretty current (having a web address and all), and lists Old Fitz as the distiller. Figured it was worth a try for $15. Found in Kentucky--and pretty far from the bit that touches the Mississippi.

Was in Chi-Town celebrating New Year's and made my first ever trip to Binny's. Found a bottle of Four Roses 120th Anniversary and also picked up a bottle of Whistlepig. I was really wanting to get some Binny's Selection BT, but was getting dirty looks from the wife...

I must say I'm jealous of our Chicagoan SB.com'ers. Binny's had quite a selection including a couple things we don't get in KY, BTAC & a Pappy 20 sitting around, along with some great single barrel selections. I often pass through Chicago to visit family in Wisconsin and will have to schedule Binny's stops more often.

Fill level on 90% of these were very good...the two I decanted yielded about 23-24oz of JUICE...not bad for 30yr old decanters. I paid a very fair price for them...some people might even say I got a GREAT deal! :)

The '92 EC 18 has made it to some of the Binny's stores, 5-15-92 if I recall correctly. I'm going to pick one up this weekend at $49.99 but need to use some willpower and let it sit for a while with way too many others open. I don't drink black tea so I don;t have much frame of reference. I get maybe a little tobacco aftertaste, but it could aslo be what you are describing.

NEVER, NEVER let the wife accompany you to the liquor or gun store, missed opportunities haunt you for a long time

I have never seen any Weller 12 in my life around here or anywhere else, anyone give me some good info on how hard it is, certain releases...etc?

I could have got more and should have. While i was in Phoenix for the BCS NC game i stopped by a Bevmo and the guy was out and told me to call the Total Wine down in Tempe, AZ so I did they said they had some. I went down there, they had a case each of the 12, 15, 20, 23 and the 10's. I like the 15's the most so just got 3, had a 4th in my hand but held back since ive spent about a grand in the last 2 months on all sorts of bourbon including my first 12, 15, 20 and 10/107 bottles in November. I am kicking myself because he said they are always in stock there. Put them on an RV with some friends driving all the way back from AL and got them today from them. Should hold me over for a little while.

FYI, $64.99 a bottle.

Some were much cheaper than I can get at home. Some just aren't available here. I was just a little dissapointed as one store listed Weller Centennial in stock on their website but it turned out to be a mistake. Still did well. All of that listed for less than $260.

Just a thought, but whenever I'm bourbon shopping and I see a bottle of something I love, such as ORVW 10/107 or Lot B, at a price higher then I normally would want to pay for it I have to ask myself two questions: What will the average price of this bottle cost only a few years from now, and will I be kicking myself for not picking up that Lot B for $55 when I had the chance?

Check the "SW All Gone" thread on the Premium board. It's a little confusing but it appears that the current source for the Pappys (15, 20 and 23) is on the verge of depletion, the 15 year being the first to dry up. Don't want to spread misinformation so I'll stop there.

Anyhow, I see you're an Aub (no disrespect). I'm a Bama fan from way down near the FL line so I can stretch into FL when I want something not available in AL. Where are you located? Oh, and I can take a little good-natured ribbin'. Some of my best friends are Aubs. Congrats on Auburn's season.

I might have to sneak over there and pick one up.

I picked up two bottles of Thomas H. Handy today. I've never had it before and the store had two bottles (I hadn't seen it in any other store around me). I was just going to buy one bottle, but decided that it was worth buying the second in case I really liked it. I didn't want to go back to the store and find it sold out!

I thought it was going away also since it's becoming impossible to find, and I haven't had a bottle in my medicine cabinet in months, so I asked ORVW, and got a nice response:

Dear Adrian:
All of our whiskey is in short supply, especially the 15 year. We still produce it but it is hard to find. Where do you live?
Our next allocation comes out in March/April.
Thanks very much for your business.

Did some shopping in MD today and picked up the following:

VWFRR for $59 each
WTAS for $65 each
Paddy Irish for $27 each

The WTAS surprised me that they had it listed for that price. The cashier at first balked at selling them to me for $65 so she had to call the owner to confirm.

I passed on previous opportunities of WTAS for the very same reason; price. The store that had these on the shelf clearly had them for some time because the one bottle on display had a thick coating of dust on it. Also, I stopped at this particular store on a whim. It was a dumpy roadside joint, part liquor store, part run down motel. The Van Winkle I had to call around to about 10 different stores before I found one that had some of the FRR. The Paddy, well, I love Irish Whiskey and up until last year was only sold overseas. It's a solid Irish blend and for $27, it was a steal.

Today I found a Pappy 20yo and a Lot B at good prices ($69.99 and $32.99), so I bought them. It wasn't until I got out to my car and had a closer look at the bottles that I discovered they are from Lawrenceburg. This must be the same store, and I guess the owner never did keep the other VW's for himself and still never raised the price either. If I were Todd, I would have tried going back for them later. Too bad the Pappy 15 for $29.99 wasn't still there.

But I just checked and saw that my current Frankfort bottling that I recently bought has the same back label. Oh well.

I also noticed on these Lawrenceburg bottles that the glass has a slight greenish tint to it. Are all the Lawrenceburg VW's like that, or just some years?

Not ALL though. I have a 20 L'burg that wasn't green and same with a few Lot B L'burgs. IIRC I emailed Julian a long time ago and his response was something about the glass change right at the end of his time in Lawrenceburg.

On my way home from the dermatologist, I stopped in a store that I was in just before Christmas to find single bottles of WLW2010, GTS2010, and PVW15 all at the state minimum price. None of these were there one month ago. The store manager said "just got these in, I've been ordering them for months". What is up with liquor control in MI?

He did have the new KC SB. My feeling was for $10 more I'd take home a VWSR Lot B.

I did take home those three lone soldiers described above along with 2 six packs of Bell's Sparkling Ale. Even though it's over a year old, it is a strong ale, and it does keep well (the store manager knocked a dollar off the purchase price). What amazed me was the store manager gets his clerk to carry my purchases out to my car.

A good report from the doc (after the next visit I'll be on the year plan), 3 three excellent bottles for the bunker, and 12 bottles of my favorite bottled micro-brew, all in all a good day.

If I understand your question; the ORVW 15 year squat bottle is the predecessor to the PVW 15. The ORVW 15 year is Stitzel Weller bourbon. There's many posts related to the ORVW 15 and using the search function should bring back many hits. Rumor has it that PVW15 will be going away this year and the fall release will go back to the ORVW15 squat bottle. All rumor but an interesting one nonetheless.

Evan Williams SB 2000, barrel #508. It might have been cool if they had shuffled all of the bottles around so that each store had different barrels on the shelf. Then the store owners could watch certain customers pull all of the bottles off the shelf and look through them.
