I guess we're a cult now. Hope this doesn't drive prices that much higher:

It was actually 0810 EST, but I would have done the same at 0600.

A little bourbon in the AM is wonderful. I only do this when I have a vacation day. Down the road in retirement I see my bourbon consumption increasing. Imagine that will you.

Let me try.

(closing eyes. humming)

Hi hey, Hi hey
It's home from work I stay
sleep late and dream
then pour some Beam
And drink! All day!

Oh yeah. Sounds like a Plan.

Not even for breakfast?

Good bourbon is really good in the early AM even before breakfast.

Bourbon with a coffee chaser is nice.

Bourbon in coffee is splendid. I like OGD 114 and a dab of creamer.

It's 8 pm but I'm not sure if I should drink my whiskey neat or with coffee.

According to the Van Winkle article, ...not all bourbons are alike, aged bourbons attract a cultlike following...as opposed to the unaged bourbon??

Also a link at the bottom to an article about value bourbons with a quote from our very own Charles Cowdery...his favorite value bourbon is one that someone else is buying.

I should note that I only advise this on mornings following light or moderate consumption the prior evening.

Wake up to tinkle
Pour some van Winkle

I know about that tinkle part when I have bad input/output management, but that is usually too early in the morning for Van Winkle.

Yep. Way off-topic in this thread. I guess I'm to blame¹. We'll have to add Drifter of Threads to my other titles (Dispenser of Magic Beans. Tormentor of Chuck. Tarrer of Minions).

So, in an attempt to rectify the situation, I offer:

Top Ten Indications that Van Winkle Fans Constitute a Cult

10. Refer to their bunker as "the inner sanctum"
9. Always face in the direction of Louisville when they pour
8. Claim the world will end in 2015
7. Describe BT-produced VW as "good enough for the initiates"
6. Pappy himself is known as "the holy ghost"
5. Devotees are expected to exhaust their financial resources to stock their sanctums
4. The closing of S-W is described as Incident II
3. Weller drinkers are considered apostates
2. Even if not afflicted with male-pattern baldness, will shave hairline back to match Pappys's

and the Number One indication that Van Winkle fans constitute a Cult

1. Opening a bottle is referred to as "sacrificing a virgin"

1. I, in turn, blame the whiskey
2. Tarmaster? Tarmenator? Tarmenalator?
3. I recently saw somewhere this means "blended"

Top Ten Indications that Van Winkle Fans Constitute a Cult

Don't deny it Scott, you are the leader of the cult, how else would you know the 10 secrets and you are trying to throw us off your trail by posting them as something humorous.
Now then, do you guys wear those funny hooded robes when you "sacrifice a virgin"?

Because of what PVW costs, we can't afford those. We have to settle for red snuggies (http://www.mysnuggiestore.com/c-98-original.aspx).

I had my grandma make me a quilt out of all those leftover Pappy bags. You know how they accumulate around the house like leaves in the fall with all of the Pappy we go through.

That's nice, but Granpappy made me a piano out of extra ORVW23 wooden cases.
