Bluegrass Tavern. They have... Everything. Even the Old Rip 23 single barrel.... The bartender knows more than I could ever dream of knowing. Currently sipping a Pappy 15 and have had multiple free samples and cocktail tastings. I'm blown away. This night changed whole my whole world on bourbon. We are about to change our hotel reservations from Louisville so we can stay on Lexington another night lol

you can't really see the awesomeness from this picture. they had jefferson 17 (from WT!!), Old Rip 23 (single barrel PVW), a 1955 Beam Select, George T Stagg, Handy Rye, Rittenhouse Rye, all the PVW, Old Rip and pretty much anything else you could possibly imagine...

We had a very lucky day... after visiting The Thoroughbred Shop (thanks to a SB recommendation) and another random liquor store we acquired a Four Roses 2009 Marriage, 2010 Four Roses 100th Anniversary Barrel Strength, Old Rip 90*, Elmer T. Lee, Van Winkle Family Reserve 13 Rye, Van Winkle 12 Lot "B"...

Earlier while visiting the Maker's Mark distillery I came across a magazine called The Bourbon review. The latest issue had an ad for The Bluegrass Tavern on the 2 page. It claimed that they had more bourbon than any other bar in Lexington... and I wouldn't be surprised if they had more than any bar in Louisville either!

I'm in the process of cracking open the Four Roses 100th

The manager at Bluegrass Tavern, Chris Evans, is a master of bourbon and will, albeit subjectively, bestow you with incredible advice and education. I highly recommend this bar if you're ever in downtown Lexington

Sneak around the corner to the bar at Metropol.

Not slick, well stocked or roomy, but another fine selection at reasonable prices.

Thanks for the recommend. I already filed it away for future use. Cheers.

$50 :o

Admittedly the Horse and Barrel bar has better prices on Pappy but they don't have the selection this place does. Or the knowledgable staff

Edit: my bad, I read that as PVW23!!! The ORVW23 is $200

If anyone's searching for a bottle of PVW23 there is one at Shennanigan's Liquor for $244 :p

Thanks! That is steep but with the atmosphere and staff, it could be very worth it.

Were you able to try something you always wanted to and did it impressed or not?

Cheers

Please read the edit to my post!

And yes, we tried a Weller 12 year from SW... Absolutely Phenomenal!!!! I understand the hype now. We even paired it up against a BT Weller 12 to see the difference and HOLY COW!!

We also had a glass Of Jefferson's 17 Presidential... Also amazing
