View Full Version : Firing Squad Whiskey- A Blindfold, a cigarette...and your last pour, what is it?

You've been caught by the rebels, you've been sentenced for a crime you didn't commit....and it's meet your maker time.

However, before you ship off, you get to pour yourself 1 final beverage...and it can be anything in the world..(no, it can't be something that you've never had/always wanted to try, first hand experience is a must, because if you've never had it, how do you know it's the best thing you've ever had, right?)...so what will it be?

My answer - I'd have a big glass of the Old Fitzgerald 6 year, SW juice from the 1940's that a certain fine gentleman in Seattle poured for me about 3 months ago....and call it a day.

Macabre, yes....but a novel idea.

Ok, your turn, go!

Oh, probably about 4 fingers of the current RittBIB.

It's not the best whiskey I've ever had in my life, but it's close, and seems appropriate somehow for a firing squad.

Ditto, but substitute 2007 William Larue Weller. Live by the Weller. Die by the Weller. :usflag: Joe

I've never seen a 1.75 of 114. I don't think they make one. I think a 750 will do.

My bottle of Four Roses Mariage '09 will do the trick.

Then they'll have to find it for me ... after all, it is my final request...

I'd ask for a bottle of GTS...then ignite it with the lit cigarette and toss it at the squad.

No effing way am I going out without a fight! :duel:

I would also go with the GTS I had the newest expression so that would have to be it drink about half and the light it and toss to the squad why waste all that good bourbon if you may not make it anyway. Ok probably less that half because I at least want to try to make it.

Somebody submit this to Mythbusters! Make mine a generous OWA.

Well if it ain't flammable then someone should tell the FAA that they shouldn't classify a 140 proof spirit as a hazardous material.

You go first.

Well since the end of the world is only 2 days away, I dont think that we need the Firing Squad hypothetical.

On Saturday, awaiting my judgement, I will be sitting on the porch with a glass of PHC 27.

I would ask for something I know they couldn't easily get! That way I might have a week or two to escape and drink at a later date!

I wouldn't get too wound up about the 21st as I'm not sure that even those in the movement are believers.

To the jury, I submit the following:

A few weeks ago, Two RV's from the Family Radio group were parked on the street near the TV station across from my office. In the short time that I was gawking at them with the rest of my co-workers, I noticed one guy feeding the parking meters.

My firing squad choice?

GTS or Handy, either would do. Hell, even mix them together and I'd be happy.

By my calculations it will be over $500 per bottle by then. They're not going to give that to a condemed man. You'll be lucky to get VOB BiB.

a bottle of current pvw 15. i might as well make my executioners miserable trying to find a bottle before they kill me. and if they can't find a bottle (good possibility), maybe they give me a pass until the next release and seeing as how the current pvw 15 might be discontinued...

No one specified the cigarette.
I love Camel Filters.
Camel non filters are good also but only after a few pours of bourbon.

Josh,

I was thinking the same. Why not the whole bottle. It wouldn't matter.

Excellent choice.

Late one night I watched an odd documentary about last meals throughout history and into the modern era. very interesting.

Alcohol, in the form of significant amounts of wine, was once a widely accepted component of last meals. The alcohol dulled the senses and soothed the nerves of the condemned.

To answer the question, WT 12 Split Label, a very healthy pour, about 6 ounces, enoughf to steady the nerves, get a good buzz, and have a heathy taste, but not make me numb. No blindfold. I wan't my eyes oppen. No cigarette. I'm a lifelong non-smoker.

Firstly, my last pour would be a 1.75 bottle of cheap Two Fingers tequila.
Secondly, I want to drink these in shots on an empty stomach the night before.
Thirdly, I want to be shot at dawn.

Having experienced the horrible morning-after hangover many times in college with TF tequila, I figure it will come as a welcome relief and welcome end, when my plea of "Someone, please put me out of my misery", is granted. ;)

Thanks! I thought the same thing. Plus, all the wavering around you would do after that might cause the squad to miss.

I haven't smoked in 20 years but if my time was nigh I'd probably smoke a couple of cigarets. I'd choose either Export A or Camels, plain end in both cases (if the non-filtered versions are still available). Another brand I liked a lot was Silk Cut, from England. The good old days.
