For Father's Day, my daughter gave me a small bottle of Maker's Mark. For me that is not a mistake. I like it ok but Weller's better.

The mistake I am talking about is buying a bottle of Walker's Deluxe. 80 proof, no age statement, it says distilled by Hiram Walker & Sons Co. Bardstown, Kentucky. I don't know if this is any good or not. I just took a chance.

The other reason I bought it is because I am unsure about buying bourbon in a plastic bottle. I had thought about getting some Ancient Age but it was in plastic bottle. So was Old Forester.

It might be okay but in the Barton portfolio, Walker's Deluxe is actually a step down from Ten High, if that tells you anything.

Yikes, I didn't know that you could take a step down from Ten High.

What about plastic bottles? Are they just generally whiskey flavored vodka? I really don't drink a whole lot but I do want to drink better.

I found a bottle of it about a year ago, and it was good.

Wild Turkey is available in plastic bottles (as is, I think Jim Beam), so I don't think you can draw any conclusions from that.

PET bottles cost less to make and ship. They are also more convenient for checked baggage. It makes sense to use them for bottle shelf bourbon, since it helps keep the price down.

I recently found a true dusty Peoria distilled 8 year Walker's DeLuxe tax stripped half pint bottle at 86 proof and it contains delicious rich and "rummy" bourbon. The fill level was a little low but it didn't effect the bourbon. I've got 5 ounces left per the ounce indentations on the side of the bottle and am saving for others to taste.

I've only had one plastic bottled bourbon which was Old Charter 8 y/o. I could not tell any difference between it and a glass bottle of the same juice. That said I do like the 10 y/o better.
