Hi All,
New member from Middlesbrough in the UK.

I guess like most I've always loved JD ( I know it's not a bourbon but still), Jim Beam etc but recently I've been investing in some stuff that's not so common over here.

Most bottles are about 28 though ($44) so it's not a cheap hobby, I turn green with envy when I see you can get them for <$20 over in the States :)

Oh well, I'm here to learn but the collection so far is

Blanton's Gold Edition - dumped on 3.14.11 from barrel 161, warehouse H, rick 17.
Maker's Mark
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey
Woodford Reserve
Jim Beam White Label
Red Stag Black Cherry
Knob Creek
Bulleit
Wild Turkey

I'm saving the Blanton's as I'm due to be a dad for the first time next year so it's going to be the 'wetting the baby's head' bottle.
All the rest I'm working through - have yet to try knob creek or wild turkey and my favourite so far is probably Woodford Reserve, I love it.

Hitby,
Welcome aboard, this is a great place to learn. Lots of collective experience here to help you with your next purchases or just quell your curiosity. Would be interesting to know what's available over there that you haven't tried yet.

Welcome aboard, and congrats in advance on becoming a parent. Getting the special Blanton's already has me jealous, although we probably win more than we lose in what's available here as opposed to across the Atlantic.

X2 That Blantons is very very purty. I am sure what you sacrifice in bourbon you will make up in other whisk(e)y's.

Welcome to SB.

I'm a big fan of Brits appreciating American products. Originally from Miami Florida I have been married to a red headed Cheshire Lass for the past 41 years.

Welcome Htiby! Looks like you're off to a great start. And I hope your baby is too. I'm father to a 15 mo/old baby girl and I'm having the time of my life.

While I've got you here, any Yorkshire pudding tips? Mine never comes out right.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Have since added Elijah Craig and Buffalo Trace. Currently enjoying Wild Turkey! Is it wrong to want a dram every day

There isn't a great deal available on the High street so I'm ordering them mostly from the whisky exchange.

Thanks again

Welcome aboard... I'm sure you'll find lots of information on the board...
Have you checked out Royal Mile Whiskys yet? When I was visiting the UK in 2004 they had a pretty great selection of Bourbons.

Welcome to SB, Hitby!

I would feel bad for you about the prices you pay for bourbon, but you should see what I have to pay for scotch!

Congratulations on your baby to be. My daughter's birth was the best day of my life and the last 4 years have been a wonderful blur.

Enjoy the Blanton's. I am a big fan of pretty much anything by Buffalo Trace.

Scott

Hello Hitby and welcome to SB. Looks like you're off to a great start with your growing collection of bourbon. Glad you picked up the Elijah Craig which is a personal favorite of mine. Lived in England for several years myself (Kent) and have a brother living in Peterborough who reports that the availability of bourbon in the UK looks more and more promising every year. Dig that Turkey and EC and let us know what you think of the Blantons after "the big day." And be sure to seek out Four Roses Single Barrel if it's anywhere to be found. Good luck with the baby!
