First off, I apologize for creating so many bouts between bottlings of late. However, this time of year, my funds are not as bountiful as I would like, and I need to get a gift for a buddy or two. I would rather take the people's advice on this forum than some guy at binny's who usually drinks scotch.

Note: I was already with him last week when he got the PHC 2010 and loved it, but he also really likes rye whiskies.

I know they're opposites, but that's partly why I was wondering. Which is the better bottling in your opinion and which is more complex? Favorite between the two?

Also considering the WT tradition.

I have all three here and they're all very nice representations of their particular style of bourbon/whiskey. IMO you can't really go wrong with any of them...the PHC will probably be easier to get later on vs. the others as they're specialty bottlings.

If the PHC was harder to find around here I would say get that one but seeing as that's not the case I would go with one of the Bowman bottles. ;)

You think so? I'm not sure about Chicago, but here in GA the Wild Turkey Traditions is still fairly easy to get ahold of, and it's been on the shelves over a year.

I don't see the PHC 2010 as much as I did a few months ago. I think it's beginning to sell out.

I think the Traditions would be a nice gift, especially with the presentation case it comes in. Plus, your friend already had the PHC. This would be different for him.

Go with the A Smith Bowman Rye. If it is hard to get now and impossible later much better gift and he will remember you when trying to find more.

but then again I am VERY VERY biased. :)

There you go...it doesn't get much better then a personal recommendation from Truman! The gift shop bottling that he put together of the Bowman Bourbon is extremely good. I haven't had the current bottle of rye that PS is selling so I can't comment on that one but the first bottling that I have is very good.

The PHC and WTT will be able to be found later on most likely...like I said earlier, go with one of the Bowman bottles!
