Exactly. Not doubting the price so much
as the quantity of bottles available. You
seldom see/hear of that many on the shelf
(or floor.)

Other than the THH, which I saw quite a bit of today, what an amazing sight! I only have 2 questions: where in CO was this (I've got a couple friends living in CO)? And did you leave any behind?

Im getting it for $55 in Atlanta from my guy. Can't be said about the WLW or Stagg, pretty much anywhere from $75-90 here.

That's just obscene. No luck down here at all - Spec's apparently shipped all their allotment to Asia (so much for supplying your loyal local customers), and none of the little stores down here ever had a chance. I'm sure BT is happy about all of this nonsense, but I'm not. In fact I'd boycott it, but that's kind of hard to do when you can't find it in the first place.

Dang. My question is did you go back to see if they are selling? Out of my own curiously, wondering if they flew out of there or if many in your area even know how amazing that sight and price is. An update would be great.

That's strange. I wonder if that is specific to just the Bryan/College Station Specs locations.

I was able to secure four bottles of Stagg this year from The Woodlands location.

I was typing and not thinking, it's mostly 2010 stuff, a few older bottles.....the people here don't seem to know what good bourbon is, Jim, Jack & Evan seems to be what sells here. There as been the full 2010 collection sitting on the shelf since we moved in.

From the time I first saw that display to when I got back for the picture (4 days) not a single bottle had sold as far as I could tell. 2 couples were shopping and were looking at me like I was nuts for taking the picture, explained it was some of the finest American whiskey made, they just didn't seem to get it.

Why does it matter? Does it affect you in any way? That is always the problem with forums... People who have been affiliated with the forum for some time think that they are better than someone who just joined. Would you act this way in real life or only on the Internet where you can hide behind a username?

Might I suggest you consider the idea of teaching a Relationships 101 class? You seem to have a unique sure fire method of how to make new friends.

Boy, two great first posts!

Did it ever occur to you that there might be a reason why no one else has asked the question? If you weren't an arrogant newbie who just wants what he wants, you might have thought of that. That's the problem with forums.

And this is my real name. No one is hiding here.

The issue isn't that u just joined....its that u been lurking for X amount of time but live in the OPs area so u decided to make an account just to find out which store this was. If he posts the store ur going to instantly go there and buy every bottle u can afford and possibly that is all of them and put them on eBay as well most likely. Regardless if the info is posted there won't be a single bottle left at that price within 2 weeks. If u were actually a contributing member of the forums/community u would have known to just PM him and 95% of the time ur going to actually be told exactly which store it is.

I'm curious tho, why as a new member do u think ur entitled to be treated the same as everyone else when u bring nothing to the table and have nothing to offer...all u do is want what u want? If u have something to actually offer why didn't u join before or why don't u actually establish urself amongst the community first?

Strangers are treated differently than friends and acquaintences on internet forums and in real life.

Crazy concept, huh?

To answer your question directly, yes I would pause and ask questions if a stranger asked me for insider information in a face to face situation.

I'm not sure how you made it out of that store without spending any cash. I'd def. disappear that WLW and some of the Stagg. You have to spend to save donchya know!

It's not like I have been on here for years like others but I have made friends with a handful that I know love bourbon as much as I do and we will help each other if needed. That being said I don't for once think because I have been on here posting longer that I am "better" than you. Of course I act this way in real life, again I don't sugarcoat what I say it being in person or on here. Like another said there is a reason why you are the first in 3-4 pages that asked the question that would have been much better if you PM'd him. I have learned on here quickly that people really do take advantage, find out go to that certain store and buy it all up just to sell. It happens more than not over the last year I have been on here so why not somewhat keep it close to the vest for his closest friends on here. Its reality, in person I would tell me best closest friends or co-workers over some random. Just like anything in this world people are weary of those that jump in with both feet immediately instead of slow playing it. You missed that 6 sense in society, just sayin'.

While devolving into a mini-trainwreck, this thread has actually taken on a second, useful path. I'm a veteran of the wine board game (my business), so knew a few of the landmines to side step, but via PM offered to buy some bourbons posters had expressed a desire to move (with a small bunker and a desire to expand and drink more of the cool stuff I read about on here). Unaware that flipping was as big an issue here as it is in the wine world, I understand why I received some of the responses I received. My advice to fellow noobs -- read the thread, from what I can tell everyone on here is quite helpful & polite -- don't ruin it by drive-bys & blatant flip attempts. And if you are serious about being here, don't take the criticism personally and learn from it -- there is probably a good reason for the way things are done.

spence21989

Apparently what I said was wrong. 'flipping' was not my intent. I did PM the op before I posted this, but I wasn't sure if people checked pm's on here so I posted it on the forum as well. I do not have 60 bucks to spend on anything but rent right now, but I thought that this store might have other deals in my price range, so your BTAC is safe. Also, see post #13. This is the last I will say about the topic, please excuse my ignorance.

Post 13 is from a contributing member with over 100 post and 13 months of membership here.

Stick around and learn. Theres a real reason for the reaction that you experienced. I think we all have stories of exposing finds here only to see the bottles disappear. There are many lurkers here with the intent to suck up bottles that are left behind.

I can't say it isn't completely unheard of. Last month i found a hole in the wall (i was dusty hunting) and wasnt expecting to find high end anything. He had the entire BTAC collection minus the Daddy Saz. Needless to say I bought them a bottle at a time over the course of 3 weeks O_O

But that picture hurts where i didnt even think i could hurt. So that's where all our allotment went ;)

We have a disabled friend living with us and she has been having some medical problems so sorry if I'm a bit slow here.

I was back in the store and it is mostly gone, they said someone came in from Denver and bought all the GTS so I hope it wasn't me that tipped off a "flipper". There is still multiple bottles of everything but GTS on the shelf (went in to grab another WLW) and was surprised to see it all gone.
