According to David Driscoll at K&L.

It would be a shame if they do as I really have enjoyed some of the most recent pours of this stuff. Aged wheaters are hard to come by these days. The V17 was perfect, decently priced and readily available. Has anyone else heard of this being discontinued?

Yikes! That would be bad news. Hope somebody has some reliable info on this.

Surely, this is precisely why the line would be discontinued in the first place: no juice around to fill the bottle!

I have also heard that V17 is going away due to old wheater stocks drying up.

IIRC, prior to last year, the Vintage 17 was a ryed bourbon, not an old wheater, so if this is the case, then it sounds like KBD is running out of anything that's old enough to be bottled as Vintage 17.

Yeah, the juice doesn't taste like BT and I'm sure BT isn't selling any wheaters as they are having a tough time keeping up with demand on their end.

HH maybe? Aged wheaters, anything over 10-12 years seems to be in short supply.

The formerly current Vintage 17 was a Bernheim Wheater(Although it had been rye-recipe in the past).

"discontinued" is the wrong word, as their stocks have simply dried up.

Wasn't sure I needed a few in the bunker but when this happens, I'm glad they are in the bunker.

Just picked up 2 for the stash after getting the K&L email. K&L wants $80, local BevMo is $70.

$66.50 after Bevmo's 5% coupon.

I think you hit the nail on the head Mike....

K&L usually wants $67, cheaper than BevMo, however KBD jacked up the price by $13 when they realized they were almost out. Local BevMo is still $70 because that's the old price. If they were to sell it faster, and then reorder one last time, you would find that price much higher next time around.

I'd been eying it at a store down in Eugene. Drove down Saturday and bought one - $66.10.

It's not bad. However, I tried some side-by-side with a close equivalent - Berheim-produced 14.5yo Binny's "Weller 12" - and the latter was better.

Disappointing for sure. :( May need to bunker a couple.

Just picked one up for $60, left one on the shelf. Anyone in St. Louis who PM's me will get the location.

There are a few left in Madison, if anybody is interested.

It can still be had around here, also.

Think I may grab one or two this week.

I found a couple of bottles in the DC area for $64.99. They've been there for at least 9 months, so I'm guessing the proprietors are not aware of the general price hike. PM me for the address if you want them.
