Thank you,
I can't help you on this bottle beyond the obvious. But sir, you have gained a heck of a lot of cred in my book by opening it, and trying it. Well done!

You said it tastes amazing, so you certainly should have opened the bottle. I open every dusty I get my hands on.

Made at what is now Buffalo Trace, probably in the 70's. Should be good stuff.

 My hats off to you sir, excellent first post. We have seen a few too many wars from people asking about values of old bottles they want to sell. All that is left for you to do with that is pour a glass and share some tasting notes with us here or in the chat room.

I don't whether to be awed or appalled.

I'm leaning toward awed. I salute you.

I'm leaning toward appalled. Slow down Pav. It's a marathon, not a race.

very nice Pav! I'd have opened that too asap, and been happy to do it! There is no real value beyond what you have done in many of our opinions.

What he said. You may be Russian, but that beverage you're drinking was made in the American South. Things move more slowly there. Pour some into a real glass and try to make it last as long as you can. Sip.

I generally shoot what I am making a conscious effort not to taste.

Pav, The tax stamp on the top of the bottle dates it to before the early 1980s. Ancient Age is still around. Here in Indiana I can only find the 80 proof 4 year old. I think some states can get a 10 year old. If you like Ancient Age, you could try some Elmer T. Lee, or Blantons.
