.....of the repeal of the 18th amendment to our Constitution, aka the Volstead Act, which made alcohol illegal, and would eventually lead to a fantastic television show on HBO called Boardwalk Empire.
Cheers to that!

In celebration of Repeal Day, I am fixing myself a Scofflaw, cuz what's better than scoffing at such a stupid law as Prohibition?

1oz Dry Vermouth
3/4oz Lemon juice
.5oz Grenadine
orange bitters
Shake
Orange peel.

NYC is trying to reinstate to some degree.
It was actually yesterday, December 5. That's the day, in 1933, that Pennsylvania and Utah ratified the 21st Amendment, which gave it enough states to become law.

I'm surprised that Utah was one of the ratifiers of the 21st amendment.

From what I understand, Paul, there were a lot of people here who were very unhappy about that vote.
They were probably told it repealed the 19th amendment (women's suffrage), instead of the 18th.
