I figured that with the beginning of a new year, we'd start up a new cigar thread. Over the Holidays I delved into the coolidor a little more than normal. Last night I rang in the New Year with a smoke that has gained it's share of accolades, an Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill. Nicely constructed, solid burn, and enjoyable throughout. I'll say that I find AB's to be somewhat inconsistent, but when they're good--they can be really good. This one is worthy of the positive chatter, IMO. Earlier, it was one of my go-to favorites, Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur. Mild, flavorful, and easy to smoke. A nice sit-back-and-relax with a pour of HH 6yr BIB type of cigar. Nice.
So, what did you fire up lately?

Kicked off the new year with a Padron 64 Anniversario on the terrace of the Greenbrier resort, after making my girlfriend an offer she couldn't refuse the evening before. Gonna be a good year.

Joe, I did. After 5 years or so of telling her I would never repeat that particular mistake, she was surprised to say the least. I have been wondering who is the bigger dummy- me for asking, or her for saying "yes".....

Well, good on you! As Oke suggested, a celebratory pour is in order. I'll pour something good, and smoke something good, tonight in y'alls honor!

I had a Liga Privada Papas Fritas tonight. I'll be buying more of these for sure. Like a #9 at half the price and about half the time to smoke. Tasty.
RASS today, a very nice cigar

The Papas Fritas is a great little cigar. I believe it is full bodied and not as strong as the Liga Privada #9. In fact, I prefer it over the Liga Privada #9.

I am not educated on cigars but really enjoy then from time to time. After picking up a couple bottles last night and asking the store owner for a recommendation under $7, I purchacsed "The Edge" by Rocky Patel, really enjoying it but don't know anything about it.

Never been a big fan of Rocky, but I have had the Edge and it was a nice smoke. You did good.

Going with a Cohiba Genios while having some of the fantastic 4RSmB 2012.

Met up with some buddies at the corner bar, and spent an enjoyable Friday afternoon enjoying some beer, whiskey, and cigars. Alec Bradley Black Market was my smoke of choice. This was my second Black Market that I have had. The first one from a couple of months ago was marginal, but this one was a fantastic. Great, even, tight, burn. Nice deep nutty flavor. Very Padron like, right up to the prodigious amount of smoke it billowed out. I'll have to remember this one come skeeter season. :D A fine release from AB.
Lately I've found that I don't have the time and/or patience for a "regular" size cigar. So today I bought a tin of Padron Corticos and I hope they are at least decent considering they're Padron's. I also bought a tin of CAO Moontrance flavored cigarillos. They smell wonderful but I'll let you know how they taste after trying one.

Enjoyed a Padron 1926 no. 35 Maduro over the weekend. What a fabulous cigar. I've had cigars twice as large that burned through in the time it took this little booger to finish up. Top notch.

Great cigar, I'd smoke those more often if I want so cheap. One of my favorite non-Cubans
anyway a Por Larranaga Petit Corona for me tonight

Sittin' out back with the fellas last night, we had a fine haze of cigar smoke hovering over the patio. My contribution to the cloud was a My Father Flor de las Antillas Toro. Had a bit of trouble with keeping it lit, but I fault operator error. Too much yakkin', and too many trips to refill my whiskey glass...:D But, it was a mild and enjoyable smoke.
I finished the evening with one of the Blanton's cigars I received from my BIL for Christmas. He gets me a 4 pack box every year. Some are good, some are not, and some are OK. Very inconsistent cigar. Last nights was OK. They're not cheap, either. A nice thought on his part, but maybe I'll hint that a bottle of Blanton's might work better.
Had a Diplo2 today while watching Michigan win in Basketball along with some fine bourbon.

Padron 26 anniversario at Del Frisco's out here in Denver last night. I hate buying cigars at places like that since they're always over priced, but didnt bring any on the trip with me. however, in a fluke, the Padrons were only a couple dollars more than retail, while some of the other cigars were 4x retail price. so why not smoke the best? it was great, as always.
Viaje Summerfest. Too cold to finish the thing - what a waste...

AF Hemingway Best Seller in the back yard yesterday after the BB&BQ Festival. Always a great smoke, and I am always amazed at how this cigar keeps it's ash. Freakish, really...
My mom used to ask me the same question.
you guys are far more advanced on the cigar scene than I. I'm almost embarrassed and have decided not to tell you I smoke acids when I do.

Nothing wrong with the Cherry Marnier, some good stuff. Thinking it might be a tasty addition to some bourbon.
Me, I am going for a Cohiba Siglo VI today, such an incredible cigar.

Diesel UC with some JB Black.
Pinar del Rio Connie with coffee...
Smoking a favorite that I don't get time for very often: Partagas 898 Varnished

Finally got my box of CA's #1 cigar of last year, Flor de las Antillas toro. Smoked one last night, and I was not disappointed. I don't think it's better than the prior year top choice though- that ranks as one of my all time favorites. Great smoke though, huge flavor but the strength didn't knock you over.
I smoked a Bolivar Coronas Juniors from a new box that's about 1 year old yesterday and they are pretty strong in their youth. I'll have to lay these down for a little while I think.
Last night a tasty Tatuaje while watching the Wings loose in overtime.

Gurkha Cuban Legacy Toro with some OGD 114.
I don't know if I'll ever develop a taste for cigars, but I keep trying. I would imagine that buying random samplers and cheap cigars is not the way to do it. But I must say, this does make a good lead-in to peaty blended scotch.
keeping it simple and mild tonight, a Graycliff G2 along with some FRYL

Spent the late afternoon yesterday sitting outside at the Tiki bar at the local wing joint, with some buddies and a My Father Le Bijou 1922 Grand Robusto. Nice tight smoke. The cigar, a belly full of lemon pepper wings, a selection of a couple of beers and a couple of MM's on ice provided a nice finish to an up and down week.
