Hello all!

just another newbie here from the Chicago area. Started getting into the juice after being pretty exclusive to beer for several years. On the younger side I suppose at 25 but really enjoying myself so far.

I have tried and enjoyed MM, FRSB, willett 7 yr binnys, WL Weller 12 yr, old grand dad 114, FRSB OBSO binnys, FR OBSK binnys, RHF, and WT Kentucky Spirit. The WL Weller 12 yr and FR SB have been favorites so far. Really liking the binnys FR SB as well just haven't had enough time with them.

Also had the great pleasure of trying William LaRue Weller Antique 2011 at the Publican recently and it was amazing. Looking forward to trying a lot more and talking with all of you. Would love to track down some specialty bottles some day.

Any suggestions from the veterans?

cheers!

Welcome aboard, as for suggestions, some of the other houses, Forester-Woodford, Beam's Knob Creek group, Heaven Hill's Elijah Craig brands, Evan Williams brands and the various HH BIBs.

From a transplanted Chicagoan, welcome aboard. Consider adding OWA to the arsenal. Great "value" pour! Enjoy the ride.

Welcome to SB from another Chicagoan. I enjoy a lot of the same pours as you so I'd recommend that you try OWA and ETL. Both are excellent pours that are often overlooked.

Welcome to SB. We'll let you know when the next South Loop Binny's get-together is and you can meet the local crew, as well as the Indy/Michigan/Iowa folks too.

Welcome to you from Eastern Tennessee, I spent 25 years in the Chicago suburbs and consider Chicago the finest city in the world. I am a die hard Cubs and Bears fan.

Hi neighbor! There do seem to be a lot of Chicago folks here.

Looking forward to the next Binny's event so I can meet some of the gang.

Full disclosure I'm originally from Pittsburgh but have been in Chicago for 3 of the past 5 years and plan to stay in the area awhile. So I'm a Pens and Steelers fan. Hope that's not a problem.. Haha.

Anyway it would be great to attend a SL event and meet some of you!

btw how difficult is it to land some of the more limited bottlings in the city? Like BTAC, Pappy, OFBB, FR LE, etc?

It's not that difficult to find limited edition bottlings in Chicago but you'll save yourself a lot of trouble trying to be in the right place at the right time if you just develop a good relationship with the right whiskey monger. I still see OFBB sitting on the shelves at a few places and some of the less popular BTACs can be found too.

Hey Chicago people:

My friend Kristina, owner of West Lakeview Liquors (http://www.westlakeviewliquors.com/), is currently in Kentucky at Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, Four Roses & Willett Distilling to hand select 8 barrels of whiskey & rye. I'll follow up with her to find out when they'll be available in her store. She's got great taste in whiskey, so I know they're going to be good.

Bootlegger, your getting some good info. Strange that no one commented on the EWSB you layer out. It's a wonderful "table" bourbon. I alway have a few around.

Yes I have a quite a few places to pick up OFBB around town averaging $15.99 for a 750.

OFBB is old Forrester birthday bourbon. You sure about that price? If so buy them all. It should be more like $40

Brett may be referring to Old Fitzgerald.
