Been reading the forum for some time, finally joined. I'm a collector, dusty hunter, and bartender at one of the most comprehensive whisk(e)y bars in Chicago. Also looking to learn more, to be better at my job.
Current Crush: Weller 7 year 90.

Hello brett, welcome aboard. I like your current choice, the 7/90 is a bit overlooked. Presumably you have a chance to taste a range of whiskys as part of your work and I would be interested in your comments. You are also welcome to visit our chat board where some members gather in the evening. The chat icon is located on the lower left corner of your screen.

I'm at Delilah's.

Last night from the home collection I tasted Weller 7yr 90 (not sure of the year, old packaging) and 2008 Van Winkle 10yr 90. I really felt the sweetness of the wheat shines through more on the 7 yr. I didn't notice much more oak on the 10yr. I was pretty shocked by this. But super happy because 7 year, when you can find it, is half the price.

You're so modest Brett. You work at THE most comprehensive whiskey bar in Chicago.

my guess would have been L&E. always nice to be able to meet somebody local.

I'm at Delilah's.

Brett:

What nights do you bartend at Delilah's? I'll come visit. Perhaps we can get a few of the other Chicago folks here to join us.

Nick

The best time to talk Bourbon is Thursday afternoons 4-10. I'm behind the bar and there isn't usually a lot of people competing for my attention. I'm also there Monday,Tuesday and Friday but those nights tend to be a bit business. Maybe we could plan some sort of bi monthly meetups at different places.

Welcome to SB, Brett. I enjoyed reading your notes on the Wild Turkey 101 and Russel's Reserve 6 in the rye forum.

Thank you I liked your "hipster bartender with a false sense of worth" quote. I may have to borrow that line.

Too bad. I was debating last night between a few things but ended up at Big Star and Scofflaw instead of Delilah's.

Welcome aboard to you and the whole slew of newer members from Chicago.
This may give me another reason to get back to Delilah's. I've killed many bottles of whiskey and brain cells there.

Welcome Brett. I'm always looking for an excuse to make it over to Delilah's, and you have provided me one! That beer tasting and HW night sound great. If I can make it over, I'll be sure to introduce myself!
