Wanted to say hello to everyone - have lurked on the site for a while and really appreciated learning more about bourbon from all the experienced posters.

Reading threads like the what's open on your bar and what's in your bunker make my small collection seem meager but I'm actively working to expand it, despite the constraints of living in a control state.

Thanks again for everyone's contributions and the hospitality I've consistently seen on the board!

Welcome aboard nd, look forward to your contributions. Which control State do you call home?

Welcome to SB. You live in a great beer state with Bell's and Founder.

Welcome to SB.com! As far as control states go, don't lament too much because MI is the least bad: we have twice the selection of any other control state, and three times the selection of some control states.

There is a button on the lower left of your screen that says "Chatrooms". You should click it a little later this evening and chat with us for a bit.

Hello and welcome to SB from Livonia.

The selection in MI isn't either the worst or best, but really grinds me is that even though we are a control state there is only a minimum price and not a maximum.

After much searching I've decided raven has the best bourbon selection in AA. The last time I was there they had Sazerac 18 and PHC up on the bar, as well as a Willett rye and bourbon, and several other options I've not seen in the state.

Unfortunately I find their food menu tries way too hard to be exotic/gourmet and often falls flat. But it's a great place for a drink.

My favorite bar in AA is at Zingermans Roadhouse - nicest bartenders, best combination of selection/price, great cocktails. Not to mention $2 off pours on Thursdays and a frequent flier bourbon punch card (buy nine and the tenth is free).

First welcome to SB. Second Go Blue. Third I love Zingermans. Never done much drinking there but their food is fantastic. Probably the best Mac n cheese I have ever had.

Anyways, SB is a great place. You will learn a lot fast. Enjoy!

I spent a good deal of my wayward youth in NE Ohio, and have been to IL, MI, WI, etc. I envy you guys that live up in the northern midwest.

It's beautiful in the summer and fall, and the people are the best.

Welcome.
