This years Holiday Select is 98 proof and goes for $49. Its got the classic JD taste but deeper. A little more oak, and a little more char. Definitely a little bit hotter with the upped proof but very drinkable. It does not have the maple notes of the JDSB. I like this years a lot better than last years. May not be worth it to some but I like it quite a bit and its nice to get a higher proof Jack to drink.

Interesting about the 98 proof, I wonder how that works exactly.

Give the people what they want is what I say, curious this select product is priced the same as the unaged stuff.

Theyre going in the right direction!

I'd love to try it, but $50 seems kinda high still, for a NAS 98 proof whisky. BF marketing at it's best, huh?

I saw two of these at Sam's last weekend, but didn't want to take the $50 plunge. I am reaaaaly enjoying my Dickel 9/103 lately. It is 5 points higher, $5 less, and has a 9 year age statement though.

Those Single Barrel Dickels (the 9 and 14) are both incredible

It's refreshing Diageo has stopped ignoring Dickel, perhaps they've discovered a unique product on their hands.

Be careful what you wish for, especially with regard to Diageo!

Although it applies more and more to any of the big boys I suppose.

As much as I'm emjoying the Dickel 9/103, I think its priced a bit high. I think $35 or so should be more reasonable. $45 is pushing it

Why is $45 pushing it?

Why is $45 pushing it?

Because I see a lot of other stuff in that age or price range, or higher age and proof, go for less...not to mention that Dickel, for the most part, doesn't enjoy the name recognition or 'status' as a bourbon (not that that means crap to me, but it seems priced a tad high for something that isnt well known to the masses). At $45 i'll buy it now and then, but if it were priced where I think it should be (mid-to-upper 30's), Id make it a daily drink.

Still, it's priced better than the JD holiday select that this thread is about. The JD is $5 more, 5 proof points less, no age statement, and no bars seem to have it where I can try it first. So the Dickel 9 is still a good deal by that standard

I don't recall Dickel ever competing in the popular price category, even in it's more obscure days.
