Although I rarely smoke (only when camping). I like doing reenactments of the fur trade era, so I smoke from a long clay pipe. I found that smoking a sweet twist with Evan Williams 7yr is remarkably smooth. The sweet twist takes the bite away and brings out the real flavour of the bourbon. I have not yet tried this with some of the more potent and complex bourbons, but I am looking forward to trying this paring with some WT Rare breed I just purchased. I am also thinking that if it is good with the EW 7yr, it may also go well with the EW single barrel..
