Chapin & Gore

I know (at least I think I know) that Heaven Hill is making a bourbon called Chapin & Gore. But were there ever a Chapin & Gore Distillery?

Chapin and Gore was a whiskey firm, what we would now call a distributer with a private label, out of Chicago. They were very large with lots of capital. E H Taylor, Jr. tried hard to get their business for his OFC distillery in the early 1870's, but failed.
