Is there a quick guide around that I may use? It seems that I have quite a few bourbons over 100 proof that I would like to bring to 100 proof for tasting. I have no clue how to get William Larue Weller, Stagg, Bookers, Pure Kentucky XO, and others to 100 proof. Can anyone help?

If you can figure out how to do that, a lot of pain & suffering could be avoided in the future http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.... as well as relieving a lot of stress in the present http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/smiley_acbt.gif

I think I will just sit back now http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif and watch it start all over again!! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/duel.gif

Things were getting a little dull & stale tonight! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/22.gif

Thanks Tim!

Is there a Wild Turkey product > 101 proof that is at least as old as RR? If so add enough of same to the RR 90 and you'll get it to 101. Easy.

Gary

Hint. Rare Breed doesn't qualify. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

An easy way is to purchase my newest invention: the Gr8erdane Water Removal System. Just send me a check for the pittance of $5000 and you can turn that RR 90 back into 101 or any proof you wish. (ok so it's just a sponge but I spent YEARS trying to develop something that removes water better). http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/stickpoke.gif

It's right there on the calculator, all one has to do is add -81.68316831683167 units of water to 750 ml 90 proof to bring it up to 101!

I have to get back to it, I have some 80 proof Cabin Still that is really much better at 90 proof.

Actually if you get a REALLY cold freezer and skim off the ice crystals...

It's called "Jacking" and is where applejack gets its name, and yes it's a form of distillation and is therefore illegal

Kind of bored so I'll give it a shot (pun intended):

100ml of RR 90 (45% alcohol) - 45ml alcohol, 55ml other.
200ml Rare Breed (107 proof or 53.5% alcohol) - 107ml alcohol, 93ml other.

add the two and you now have 152ml of alcohol and a final total volume of 300ml. 152/300(100) = 50.66% alcohol or 101.32 proof.

Whew! There's the 101 proof. I can't help with the age. However, I broke into my RR 90 last night and I don't have much to complain about. It's still a fairly nice bourbon.
