Laphroaig 30

I'm a huge fan of Laphroaig Whisky. I love the 10, 10 Cask Strength and the 15. I read some great things about the 30 year old, but I'm reluctant to go out and buy a bottle, due to its novelty (to me at least) and it's high price. I wondered if anyone here had any experience with Laphroaig 30?

funny coincidense, I am now sipping on a Laphroaig 15 yo, neat.
Love the peat, never had any of the others though.

I have and it is great (only 1 double shot). The 15yo is the closest of the affordable ones. However, is it worth the money ? Only if you're rich.

I have tasted it to in a tasting event and I think it is very good but of cause not worth the price to bay a hole bottle. Actually I thought it was much better than the 40 years old.

I've got the 10, 10 CS and the 15. The 15 is my favorite and one of my favorite whiskies. A bar in town has the 30, One of my good friends also a member here is coming into town and I think we're going to try it out. Somehow, I have a feeling I'll end up loving it and then I'll be out 250 big ones. :slappin:

One store here in Albuquerque has one bottle for about $300. I'm a big Laphroaig fan, but I just can't pull the trigger on that purchase.

I, too, am a Laphroaig devotee. I did spring for a bottle of the 30 year old. I recently had the opportunity to get a second one and declined. The 30 yo, unlike any other Laphroaig, is aged in sherry casks, all other expressions are aged in former bourbon barrells. The sherry casks were filled for a private collector who died before having used them, so Laphroaig bought them back. Although it's an excellent delicious whisky, wth a wonderful nose, it's not Laphroaig to me! It has lost the iodine and seaweed characterisitics that caused Ian Henderson (former Laphroaig manager) to say "love it or hate it, ther's no in between". Timmy, you sound like you, too, are one of those who love it. If you try it, I hope you're not dissapointed when you find that is doesn't taste like a Laphroaig.
