McKenna Bourbon

In regards to the new McKenna Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that surfaced in Australia last year, I can confirm that it is in fact Heaven Hill whiskey. Got told so today by a reliable source that said "it's supposed to be a big secret". Not so secret any more. I guess that's why he wasn't answering my questions in great detail last time I saw him when he was with his boss....:grin:

The whiskey is sent to NZ and bottled there. I'm not sure if the HH NZ operation has a botling facility, or if it is done by someone else.
It is 5 years old, and as I don't know too much about it, what is the age of Henry McKenna bourbon available in the US??
And is it something that is widely available? I know Binny's dont have it on their site.......I feel the need for some of the single barrel.

The standard USA McKenna doesn't carry an age statement, so it's at least four years old and unlikely to be much more than that. The single barrel is 10 years old.

I've seen the standard McKenna at Sam's here in Chicago and it's readily available in Kentucky. Among the many cats and dogs Heaven Hill sells, it's one of the biggest.

Ummm, I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. Elijah Craig is also a Heaven Hill product.

Hi Tim, you are correct- I only mean that before I knew this was a HH product, the tasting notes I'd read reminded me of tasting notes for EC12 (which I knew to be a HH product)...
Now that I know they are both HH, it makes more sense - there's bound to be a family resemblance.:cool:

a little off topic, but i enjoyed the mckenna distiller's select in the ceramic jug emmensly and wish i could find it again
