I'm going to be flying through Amsterdam in 2 weeks. Anybody have any idea what kind of bourbon I might find at the duty free at the airport?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the duty free shops at Schipol have almost no bourbon available. As I recall it was Beam white, Heaven Hill white, and Jack Daniels, and that was it. I just went through Frankfurt a couple of days ago and the story was the same. Over the last few years the quantity of Bourbons available in Europe airport duty free shops has dwindled to almost nothing.

About the only interesting thing I've seen in Duty Free lately has been Wild Turkey 8 year. Other than that, it's the normal stuff.

I so seldom see anything interesting in Duty Free, anywhere, that I rarely bother to look. Maybe if I have too many Euros in my pocket. But if I'm in Amsterdam, I spend it on cheese.

Although it was almost eight years ago and much may have changed, I saw quite a Scotch selection in the Manchester, England duty-free as well. I still have the long-ago-emptied liter of Aberlour 10 that I brought home - it was the bottle that convinced me that whisk(e)y was worth drinking, and I'd still consider it a very good starting point for exploring single malts.

Have you tried the Aberlour a'bunadh?
If not, and you like the 10 year, do yourself a favor and get a bottle!
It's fantastic!

Oh, yes, indeed. I've had Batches 7, 10, 11, 12, and 15 so far... each different, but all superb. A while back, I had less than a full pour of a'bunadh, and less than a full pour of Buffalo Trace, and tried an in-the-glass vatting - that was VERY tasty!
