View Full Version : Where to buy in KY?
I will be making a trip from my home here in Michigan to Alabama, and as luck would have it right through bourbon country!
Thanks to another thread about bourbons that are ony available in KY, I have my shopping list ready. What I am looking for is advice on stores with a good selection that are near I-65. Anyone have a favorite store that would fit the bill?
Thanks,
MikeR

MikeR, what was the name of the thread that listed the bourbons only available in KY? I tried a search with no results.
Thanks.

Toddy's Liquors, in Bardstown, 502-348-1444
They have a second location now, but you'll have to call the main number to get it.
I got Four Roses Single Barrel and Small Batch at Liquor World in Louisville. Got a 10% case discount. Also picked up some Bells Two Hearted Ale and Stones IPA. Looked like they had some Holy Grail PVW 23 for around $200 as well. Google them and ask what is in stock.
Where in Alabama are ya going? I'm in Tuscaloosa.
Jonholl- Believe it was "What would you buy?" thread.
WKU88- I will be up near Cullman.(Eva) My father is buried there and I am escorting my mother down. Friday would have been their 50th anniversary. BTW, Western Kentucky U. class of 88?
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I am sure to find the perfect bottles.

Hey Mike R,
My family is from that area of Cullman, Eva, Vinemont and Lacon.
I was born in Cullman, it's been a couple of years since I have been down.
Yup, Western KY, 1988.
Wish your trip was under better conditions.
Anyhow, Chuck's in BG (used to be Barren River Beverages), or Liquor Barn on Fern Valley in Louisville are both good places to buy bourbon.
WKU88- Thanks again. Looks like I will be stopping at Chucks, the Bowling Green location should be easy to get to. I am looking forward to this trip because I believe it is the last major hurdle for my mother. It has been 2 1/2 years since my dads passing and she gets a bit better as the time goes by.
OscarV- What a small world it is. If you need a couple of bottles from KY PM me. I'm sure I will have some space available. Would be nice to find someone near to share the hobby with.
Thanks again,
MikeR

Hey MikeR,
Thanks for the offer. I have more than I can drink now.
Also I go down to KY in the Autumn when the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection is released, and this Fall I hear a couple other goodies could be released.
If you wanted to drop by some Sat afternoon I am sure I'd could break out something good to drink.

Joe,
I checked Google maps and the Yellow Pages for Bowling Green and neither one shows Chuck's Liquor Barn. Is there a different name, or does someone have the street address?
Thanks,

Mike,
I'm pretty sure it's Chuck's liquor barn. Maybe the Kentucky guys can shed some light on it. The one off exit 28 is easy to find, you run right into it.

I believe it's Chuck Evans Liquor Outlet (I, II, etc). Try that.
Cheers!

Yes, I was just there, and the one I was thinking of on exit 22, Scottsville Rd. was NOT Chuck's. In fact, the prices were on the high side. Liquor Barn in Louisville (Fern Valley) was much better for selection and price.
