Where abouts in Indianapolis. It's a big city.....a whole county as a matter of fact! What you looking for? (Really.....it makes a difference!)

PLEASE, I went from the north side to the south side in less than 40 min. Have you ever been to Houston? You can get a flight from Hobby to Bush Intercontinental

Seriously though ... we have not determined a location aound the city yet. Emily is working for Clarion downtown and my office is Post Rd and 33rd. I was thinking south or west. Thoughts?

Post and 33rd is on the East side. If she's downtown....it doesn't matter where you live around the city.....it's going to take her pretty much the same amount of time to get to work. (At least that was Jon's logic when he worked on the southside.....and I was downtown Indy!)

Southside, so far, traffic still moves well. For example, here in Greenwood, I know lots of people who shoot up 135 or Bluff road to be to work in 20 minutes. (We can be parked downtown for a Colts game in less than 15!)

East side....I'd go out to Franklin Township area. Lots building up out there, but.....traffic flow right now stinks. Lots of people like the Fishers/Carmel area on the north side, but I think it's too congested.....you don't have kids in school do you? That makes a difference too. You can get online to look at the i-step scores for each school system here.

I sent you a pm for liquor stores :grin:

Kids are grown and having there own (our first grandchild is due next month) so schols are not an issue. Also, I forgot to mention, we are going to rent for about a year or two so we really get to know the city and then purchase. (Added difficulty ... pets)

I like the south side so far. Closer to the bourbon!! :slappin:

Thanks for the PM

From Indy, a road trip to Louisville is your best bet.

On occasion true, but it still is a 1 1/2 hr to 2 hr drive. And if Emily goes, longer. (Gotta stop at all the Sonic Drive-Ins  ) Actually did the trip, from Indy to Louisville, last Thursday.

Dale,

In my message to you I didn't say anything about United Package Liquors. I heard that they bought out one of the stores that I really like and the main buyer for the purchased store was hired to help them change their image here in Indy. I never stop at United Package stores because their bourbon selection and stores in general had pitiful selection of anything other than cold beer!

Well, today I stopped at one of their bigger stores and while I was impressed at how they've changed, their bourbon selection is still quite pitiful compared to the other stores around Indy. If you're a wine drinker, you might like the changes they've made. The store had a big wine area much like the 21st Amendment Wine Store on the west side.

If it's bourbon on your list....they didn't have anything that you can't find at the other stores I told you about :)

I haven't lived in Indy long, but Crown liquors in Avon (West side) has a nice selection...Jefferson Reserve, Rock Hill Farms, etc.....This was a pleasant surprise when I moved from KC.....Talk about slim pickens!!

Ha! I don't shop at Crown either! Musta been pitiful in KC! I will admit that the Crown store in Avon does seem to have the better selection of all their stores. When the Tributes were available, I got one at the store in Avon :) They atleast had it reasonably priced :)

Slim picking ..... come to Ohio, your friendly Control State, where there is no reason given as to why you can not get some bourbons...at all, anywhere.

Sounds like there are enough of us in Indy for a gathering!!!

I'm headed to Detroit this weekend for another softball tournament. I looked around there the last time we were there.....total waste of time....Michigan must be pitiful too!

In the Auburn Hills area, northern suburb of Detroit, I found a spot called The Red Wagon. Quite an impressive collection of SMS and bourbon.
This is where I found two of the The Millenium EWSB's.
