I'm not sure how signifigant the find, but I found some dusty Old Grand Dad 114's "Barrel Proof" (2). One had a comprimized cork, the other was fine.

The price I paid for the good bottle was $17.99 and for the other $14.99.

I have attached a couple pictures for you all to see.

By the way, this find is as a result of my taking the advise of some members here to go out and buy some MM. In the process of th doing that, I found the dusties in an old liquor store that was sold to the current owner back in '02. The two bottles were left in the basement and the current owner decided to try and sell them. There was an old price on there for $22.99 but then was dropped to $17.99. I'm not sure who put the old price on there (old or current owners).

Anyway, I know Old Grand Dad is well like in these parts and figured for the price I can't go wrong. The price of $17.99, I found out was as a result of the current owner looking up the price of a current bottling of Old Grand DAD 114.

Thanks for all the help and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Mark

Sorry for the delay on the picture, I thought they were attached.

Apparently, I had the wrong size then the wrong type of file.

Oh well, the pics are up now.

Sounds good, but what exactly does that all mean? Can you tell how long ago it was bottled, by whom and how long the bourbon was aged, etc.?

86259 is the UPC code for ND during that timeframe.

Thanks for the info, Greg.

I just found some Old Grand-DAD BIB with the UPC 86259. Here's the interesting part, the strip that goes over the bottle cap says:

AGED 8 YEARS
BOTTLED FALL OF 1989

I thought that ND sold off Old Grand-Dad in 1987.

The front label says:
DISTILLED AND BOTTLED BY
THE OLD GRAND-DAD DISTLLERY COMPANY
FRANKFORT, KY DSP KY. 14

So, I guess it's still the old bourbon with Beam bottling it with the old labels.

What do you all think?

Mark

I also wanted to add that each bottle is 1 LITER as opposed to 750ML's or 1.75 LITERS. And, I paid $23.55 per bottle.

ND had a flavor profile that many here like. You may like it or dislike it. Try one and see.
Yes, Beam like many other distillers used the stock that was left over. Most of the ND products were bottled in Cincinati until the early to mid 80's. After that it was OGD that did all the bottling(dsp 14).
