Cruzan Light Rum: 2yo going to 14mo

Cruzan Light Rum has long been a favorite of mine as a mixer; it's much better than other rums in that price category, such as Bacardi or Ron Rico (for rum on the rocks, with a slice of lime, I prefer something better, such as Clement, Neisson or Charbay).

Traditionally this has been a two year old rum, filtered after aging to remove some of the color. However I recently noticed the big "2" had disappeared from bottles at a local liquor store. I took a close look at the label and saw in the fine print that it's now aged only 14 months.

I shopped around, found a place with a supply of the 2yo and grabbed a bunch.

Cruzan must not have updated their web site yet as it still shows aged 2 yrs. on the light and dark. I discovered Cruzan about 15 years ago. I bought a bottle of the dark and found I liked it better than the more well known brands such as Bacardi and Ron Rico. The Cruzan is cheaper to boot. The light and dark are excellent as mixers or over ice. Very nice rum made on St. Croix, American Virgin Islands. I will have to try the aged versions.

Yes, I'd looked at the web site and saw that. Guess they're going to postpone updating it as long as they can.

Back in FL the Cruzan and Ron Rico cost a little less than the Bacardi. Here in OR they're all within 50 cents of each other.
