THERE is bourbon in the Bourbon Street milkshake, served at Brooklyn Bowl, the loud, slick palace of fun that opened last year in Williamsburg. There’s also a sizable gobbet of Nutella, its nutty richness meant to evoke pralines — and by extension New Orleans, and by further extension the wild time you might have in New Orleans but are now presumably having in Brooklyn. And, of course, there is ice cream — the good stuff, with egg yolks and real vanilla, certainly better than anything you’ve ever eaten in a bowling alley...(read it all here)

Are there any suggestions for buying bourbon in downtown MN? I will be there for a few days next week on business. I will be without a car so if there are any decent shops within walking distance to pick up a bottle for a reasonable price, recommendations would be appreciated! TIA!!
I am going to sit down with it tonight and play bourbon geek. Friday I had just left the funeral home due to an old friend's passing when I bought it. So I hit the bottle with a different aim than taking notes....The nose on this stuff is nice, I noticed it as soon as I cracked the bottle.

Howdy All:

I hope you are doing great.

I am still new into Bourbon and learning. I started about a year ago and had a buddy come over and educate me. One of the bottles I had was Bookers and he said it would last me forever because it was so high proof that I would not be drinking a lot of it.

Fast forward to last week, a friend buys me a bottle of Bookers and I figure I should finish off the other bottle. I get myself a nice cigar and fill my glass with some Bookers and a couple of ice cubes to cut it a bit and cool it down for my time outside in the warm weather. It was really a wonderful drink, I did not feel at all that it was "too strong".

Learn something new everyday I guess.

Best regards, tony

Has anyone ever heard of this or have an opinion? They are going to start selling this in Ontario in Sept. at the LCBO.
From the Toronto Star wine critic:
"SPIRITS: Very welcome, in the larger Vintages stores, is the ultra smooth PennyPacker Bourbon (#186742, $27.95 for 700 ml), which is as mellow as Maker’s Mark ($47.15) in sculpting Manhattans, at a bargain price. There’s lots of vanilla and caramel mellowness from the new American oak in which it was carefully aged."

We had a marketing challenge at my work and the reward is $300. From the beginning I vowed that if I succeeded I would use my $300 on something superfluous. Far be it from me to call bourbon superfluous, but I do technically have plenty (15 bottles or so). Anyway, I don't regularly spend $300 on whiskey at once. Occasionally I might splurge and buy a $50-75 bottle, but thats about the max. So . . . .

Should I get one or two expensive bottles (PVW20, 23, Parker's Heritage (the 27yr was barreled in my birth year), etc) or spread it out a bit? I need to plan my strategy out beforehand so I don't make any panic purchases. Thoughts? Suggestions?
