I was able to attend. The Buffalo Trace folks are always great hosts. The highlight for me was the special tour conducted by Colonel Taylor and Freddie.
It truly was a nice event. Sorry I did not see you there. Elmer is doing fine after a bad winter for him. It was great to learn that soon we will have some bourbon made the vintage way (Mark shared that 7 years ago they put up some whiskey with a very old-fashioned mash bill).
Mark Brown (CEO of Buffalo Trace) in his introductory remarks did not go into the details but said it was serendipitous set of circumstances that they were able to purchase the brand from Jim Beam.
I am not certain I heard this correctly -- maybe someone else can confirm -- but I believe they also got 1,700 barrels of bourbon as part of the transaction.
