How do you drink your BTAC?
I just picked up a couple bottles of WLW and GTS I have been wondering how everyone drinks these high proof bourbons? I'm thinking that I will probably cut them down to around 100 proof as anything more is still a bit too much for me. When cutting bourbon is it best to use a particular type of water? TIA!
Re: How do you drink your BTAC?
I start with it neat...the add drops of water to taste. Best water to use would probably be from highbridge for me, but can't get it here as it is in Ky. Usually just use good chicago tap.
Re: How do you drink your BTAC?
I drink them neat. (99 percent of the time) But you will find many on here who dilute them.
The best water is RO treated or distilled water. I'm pretty sure that most distilleries use reverse osmoses to treat the water that they use to dilute whiskeys down to bottling strength.
Ideally, why would you want to add anything but two hydrogen atoms bonded to one oxygen atom?

neat- just smaller sips if need be

Re: How do you drink your BTAC?
I have a friend who uses an eye-dropper to add very small, controlled amounts of water to his whiskey. If you have an issue with the higher proofs (I can relate- it took me a while to get used to Thomas Handy neat), this might be something you wish to try?
I absolutely love the William Weller and Thomas Handy neat now- the William L. Weller reminds me of cinnamon sugar every time I smell it.

From a glass (well, only occasionally directly from the bottle). :drinking:
Re: How do you drink your BTAC?
This thread brings up something interesting I've noticed.
When I'm board I often go to "who's on line", mostly to see what kinds of threads visitors view. There is a thread titled "how to drink bourbon". It gets a lot of views from visitors. As someone who has been drinking the stuff since they were of an age they had to pay someone else to buy it for them, a question like this seems odd. But, hay, everybody's gotta learn sometime.

Mostly neat....
But if that isn't doing it for me..... drops of water 'til I'm happy !!!
