What of these are drink you can drink straight?

Ok im getting back into drinking whiskey and i bought a few bottles the other day some were cheap and some were better, i do like my drinks mixed and im trying to get more into drinking straight so i bought a few of these bottles in mind for mixing and others i hope i like them straight anyways just wondering out of what i bought is a drink you would drink straight.

also i know all of these aren't scotch so i hope i didn't put this post in the wrong place

wild turkey 80proof - i use to drink 101 a lot and i though 80 would be smother to get back into it and i was wrong lol from now on its always 101.

wild turkey american honey - i don't know anything about this

knobb creek - i hear good thing but ive never tried it

Chivas Regal 12 year - heard good things but never tried

johnny walker red lable- heard its a good mixing drink

makers mark - ive hand it mixed and remembered i really enjoyed it

jameson- popual irish whiskey ive never had

I would have no problem drinking any of those straight, except for the Red Stag. I really didn't like that one at all, so to me it's only value would be if mixed. Or, thrown out. :puke: I'll have to admit, I'm not the best source for Scotch info. I just don't drink much of it, but I've had the two blends you list, and they are servicable straight. I'll drink the Maker's straight all day long.

I have to agree that you might like any...or all of them straight. It's a matter of individual taste and while recommendations are useful I guess they aren't foolproof because it's so much a matter of taste. Looking at your list, thunder, I can say that there isn't one that I would hesitate to try straight. There are some that may be fine for mixing, but I don't care too much for mixed drinks. I'd add that just last week I finished a bottle of Jameson's 6-year old and replaced it with a new bottle of Jameson's SR 12-year old. I think they're both really delicious straight up.

Johny Walker Red is spirity and young. With water and ice it is OK
I like the standard Jamison on the rocks, usualy as a pre-diner drink.
Beam White is blaaaaannnnnnddd.

Out of everything you listed the only two things I would drink would be KC and MM.

Wild Turkey 80 proof and 101 proof are different whiskeys, not just different proofs. Paul is a big WT101 fan for sure.

If I recall correctly from my tour, the 80 proof is a blend of 4, 6 and 8 year old whiskey and the 101 is 6, 8 and 10 year old whiskey. The 80 proof is and tastes much younger.

Don't do the Red Stag. Other than that, most anything I'll drink straight except for the uber barrel strength stuff like Stagg/WLW/Handy. I prefer my stuff about 110 pf.

I agree with Smokin Joe and Greg.

Regarding Red Stag, my suggestion would be to drink it on the rocks with a splash of soda. That or mix it 50/50 with any of the other bourbons you mentioned.
