Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
My friend is a builder and is finishing a large expensive historical house renovation. After telling him the stories of people finding bottles of Bourbon in walls of old houses he loved the idea and decided to leave something for someone to find later.
We want to put a bottle or two of Bourbon in the wall of this house. Planning on boxing it/them so they don't get broken when the wall is eventually torn out .
What Bourbon would you put in the wall?

Re: Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
ORVW 23yr and Hirsch Red Wax :D
Grab something that will not rot (screw cap) and covers a couple key areas.
I recomend you get an older bottle of OWA 10/107 and EWSB 2000
Re: Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
You want something to represent 2009: I suggest Red Stag.

Re: Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
OFBB 2009, FR Mariage 2009, or FR SB 2009.... something with the current year on it.
Re: Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
I agree with the idea of safeguarding against rot and so a screwtop sounds like a good idea to me. In that case I'd put an ORVW 10/107 and either a Ritt BiB or OWA 7/107.

Yep, any of these will do, except of course the OFBB 2009, don't want the finder to smell like you know what.
Right Em?
Re: Recommend a Bourbon for in the wall
After being frustrated by a lot of old bottles and decanters that had the cork take over the taste, I'm going with a screw top and probably dip it in wax to discourage evaporation.

Ditto. Maybe something that represents today that won't be around tomorrow. I fear that may leave Red Stag out, I've got the feeling that's going to be around for a long time.
