Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr 107 proof.
Haven't seen a thread on here that isnt 5+ years old. Anything change on this bourbon?
I have a 15yr and 20yr family reserve waiting for me and he asked if I wanted a 10yr 107 proof also for $40. It worth it? I am already spending near $200 for those first two and honestly don't want to spend an other $50 after taxes. What does it compare too the best?
I figured since its hard to find also, might as well have it in my collection. Any info to help make my decision please let me know. Thanks!
Re: Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr 107 proof.
It's a great bourbon, and very much worth the price. I don't know what else it would compare to, for my money it's the best wheater at that age and price range, and maybe even a few above its price range.* To quote an old Irish poet, it's magically delicious.
*maybe Weller 12 is as good, depends on the day.

Rip Van Winkle 10 Year 107 is usually a great bottle of Bourbon.Lots of Carmel ,Rich and Thick with a long Finish.
The last bottle I had tasting a little bit like cough syrup .
The bottles No was B9016.The glass bottle it was in was made in 09.

Yes, very much so and if you want to play the "bang for your buck" thing, that ORVW for $40 beats the hell out of the Pappy 15 & 20 yo's.
Re: Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr 107 proof.
I'd skip the 20yo and get another 15 and a couple 10's.

Josh nailed it exactly (well, not really "exactly" --- but I needed to pad my response)

I was just in a store the other day and bypassed a row of ORVW 10/107 for $29 each. I have 3 or 4 in the bunker so didn't feel compelled to purchase.

For $29? God where do some of yall get this luck. Paying $50 in Atlanta at Green's, their most impressive package store.
Re: Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr 107 proof.
It ranges in price from 29 to 38 'round here depending on where you go. And I will echo what everyone else says about it. It's like Weller 12 in as much as it is one of those bourbons that I would pay more for...but I'm glad I don't have to.

It's $40 (well $39.95 +tax) in MI, but it's also worth it.
