Fighting cock 103 vs OWA 107

Ok, so I know that other than proof, these are completely opposite in syle, but I was wondering which one you favored. Is one more complex than the other? I've had both of these, but it was probably about ten years ago and I'm sure both they and I have changed since then.

I like both wheaters and ryes, but tend to favor ryes by a small margin. I know- try both. But I'm low on cash, so I'm going to buy one of these and also going with a bottom shelfer to tide me over til I'm flush with cash. Both are priced within 2$ of one another.

Any suggestions?

Go with the OWA 107

I'd go with the Kicken' Chicken. I think it's one of the better values out there.

Hands down, OWA 107.

FC103 is an old favorite of mine, picked up a bottle last week for this weekend, but it's been a long time since I've had any because I started buying OWA107 (and Rittenhouse BIB) instead.

I like them both, and it would be foolish to compare them to each other, but in terms of quality (or, did this bottle meet it's own potential) I found my last bottle of FC to be slightly better than the OWA 107 I just finished. FC has come a long way in a few years, IMO. In other words, OWA didn't quite hit my target for what a 7 y/o wheater should be, whereas FC slightly exceeded my expectations for a 6 y/o ryed bourbon.

If you weren't cash strapped I would say buy both :grin:

I know a lot of people like OWA, but I actually think FC is a more complex, flavorful pour (and I am a bit high-proof wheater fan).

Being so different, I would say that on Tuesday I'd go with OWA, and on Thursday go with FC. Today's Thursday, so FC it is.

I wonder what kind of profile HH is shooting for with FC. I ask because I wonder how different it is from HHBIB (6yr)
