Buffalo Trace purchased at their gift shop
Last year during KBF, I purchased a bottle of Buffalo Trace from their gift shop. These bottles have a Buffalo Nickel glued to bottle (and Fred claims to have glued all of these on).
I opened this about 1 month ago and was floored how good this was. I then noticed bottle also had a sticker sating Collector's Edition - Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee. So, I'm guessing Elmer picked these barrels and it shows - definitely on the sweet side.
So if anyone is going to KBF this year, visiting Buffalo Trace, and they still have these bottles with Elmer sticker, I suggest buying (and buying a few for me as well!)

You picked the nickel off didn't you ?
Re: Buffalo Trace purchased at their gift shop
Ahh the BT Nickel Sticker, that elusive creature of Lore.
You should not have told me it was Fred, I had imagined bourbon elves would have performed this duty.
Glad it was tasty!

When I was at the gift shop over Fathers Day weekend this year, they were using a bottle identical to what you describe for the tasting at the end of the Hard Hat tour. I was tempted to grab one when I saw the "Hand selected by Elmer T. Lee" but passed because it tasted similar to other standard BT bottles I have purchased in the past.

I opened up a standard bottle of BT and did a side by side comparison. The bottle I had of Elmer T lee hand selected was far better.

I'm not doubting you, sorry if it sounded like I was. Your palette is probably far more advanced than mine. I was merely commenting that I didn't see much of a difference. But, a side by side of the two would yield far more accurate results.
