I.W.Harper Bicentennial Edition
I have an unopened bottle of IW Harper Bicentennial edition, with the letter my grandfather received with it. Does anyone know this bourbon or it's value as a collector's piece?
I am wondering if I should open it and try it, or just hold on to it as a family heirloom. I do not want to sell it, but hold on to to pass down to my son.

Did you check the New User Guidelines?
Re: I.W.Harper Bicentennial Edition
Please move this post to the collectables forum, I did not see that in the rules...
Though I would still be interested in learning more about this bourbon...
Re: I.W.Harper Bicentennial Edition
Is this the one in the decanter that looks like a barrel? If so, I wouldn't say its a rare collectable, but the whiskey itself was quite enjoyable. Sounds like it would be something for you to enjoy now, or with your son when he's of age.
My understanding is that several distilleries were making special release bourbons in so-called collectable decanters starting back in the '50s or so. When the glut hit in the '70s they started putting out juice in decanters as a way to just get rid of stock.

You should also read the sticky note ("Announcement") at the top of the Collectibles page. Nothing has changed.

It's worth $19.76.

Yeah, but they marked it up from $17.76. Except in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, where it first went on the shelves at $17.75. :D
