Re: Specs is open in Dallas!
Curious how much the expedition recreation went for? And please post some tasting notes after you pop the top.
Really excited about my next trip to Dallas as my MIL lives just down 75 from Spec's!
Re: Specs is open in Dallas!
Did a brand new Spec's have a shelf tag on Noah's Mill saying it was 15YO bourbon? Rowan's Creek 12YO? Which neither are age dated.
Re: Specs is open in Dallas!
Don't forget to try their deli. They make some kick ass food.
Usually, the high end bourbons are kept in a seperate area...up by the front in a glass case. But, I completely understand them not having any.
Also, make certain that you sign up for their Spec's card. It's good for life and gets you tons of discounts.

Yes, the Noah's mill is the fifteen year old. The expedition recreation was $153. Single Oak was $75 each. Got some Redbreast 15 for $65, and an ale sampler gift box for $33, which included several Rahrs, some Clown Shoes, some Saint Arnolds and a few others I don't recall without getting up and looking - about 24 nice ales all in all.
I definitely intend to post tasting notes.

I seriously doubt the Noah's Mill at your Specs is 15 YO. 5-6 years ago it was, but the current product is NAS. My beef is that Spec's has shelf labels that say it is 15 YO; this labels are false and misleading.

Actually, just going by the description on the receipt. I didn't think to look at the shelf label.
Re: Specs is open in Dallas!
I picked up some Old Potrero Rye & Willet's CS Rye (4 yr) along with some nice beer.
They've been pretty well cleaned out over the last week, though - hopefully they'll restock with an equally amazing selection (had more Sprinbank/Longrow expressions than I've seen in one place - including Binny's!)

Then what you should do is drink 1/2 of it and then return it for refund saying receipt and shelf label is false advertising.

Hehe. Shades of the old Leave It To Beaver episode where the eccentric uncle demands the 'double your money back' offer after one taste.
I'll have to make another run up there to see what the shelf label actually says.
