Ah, family issues. I know them well. Good to have ample supplies when needed.

I'm reducing my beer intake in favor of more bourbon, and wanted to reduce my open-bottle count to start working my way through some bottles.
To that end, tonight I killed off a Fall 2005 bottling of Eagle Rare 17 and a two-year-old bottle of PVW 20. Each bottle contained just enough to fill up to the top of the widest part of a Glencairn.
Just finished off the second bottle I had purchased on Weller 12, I was trying to do a side by side tasting to improve my tasting ability with EC12 and Weller 12 and after one sip of each realized the bottles had turned (these were both almost gone and I should have known better than to try and do a tasting with them). Anyway, I am on a no-whiskey-buying-budget until the end of the month and will have to hope that rumors of a Weller 12 shortage are unfounded because this can't be the last bottle of it I have.
She was a good Weller....
Just knocked out my bottle of Rare Breed that I picked up for Thanksgiving. Ya know, they could put Bourbon Supreme in a bottle of Wild Turkey and I'll still buy a bottle for Thanksgiving. It's just right...Anywho, the whiskey was as I expected. Depending on my mood, it went from "OK" to "Wow, this is really good". But, as I carried the empty out to the trash, I slowed and began to glance at the bottle in my hand...spun it around a few times...really took a good look at the label...the printing font of the "Rare Breed" is perfect...the graphics with the turkey and what appears to be a hill/small mountain with some building I suspect is the old distillery, is cool...the Wild Turkey "medallion" pressed into the glass...the unique shape of the bottle...the the wood topped cork...the bits of "pertinent" information on the various labels...and I concluded, that this is one fine presentation. Makes my memories of it's contents all the better. And, I'm fine with that.
I know that as enthusiasts we oftentimes and proudly say, "I only care what's IN the bottle...Well, I'll admit it...I can be a sucker FOR the bottle... :o
Following up Joe's Rare Breed... a Kentucky Spirit light top bottled on 1/9/09 gave up it's last ounce for me. Same experience as Joe, it varied from good to great, depending on the mood. I still remember the wow moment, laying in the yard hammock, late May, dusk setting in and my daughter having been honored at her high school graduation earlier in the day. This will be one of the few empties I keep around as it was signed by Jimmy, and no, not Troyce , in 2010.
Finished up a bottle of George Dickel Barrel Select. A little too expensive to have one open all the time, but they sure are doing something right down in Tullahoma. One of the best noses under $40, in my opinion.
My first bottle of EWSB (2001) gave its last for me last night. Still got the 2002 though.
Polished off a EWSB 02 first, then moved on to knock off a weller 12 after that.
Really like the barrel of 02 that I had, need to get more today.

On a mission to clear the bar!
My first two bottles ever of ORVW 107 and Lot "B" bit the dust this weekend. Very, very sad to see them empty.
